Bloomfield Hills: Home of Cranbrook (Images of America)

Not Much New Here
The author got a few things wrong about Cranbrook, but I enjoyed adding this photo book to my collection.I'm left pondering the significance of a single small volume in which appear photos of my mother (as a high school grad), Bob Seger, Aretha Franklin and Roger Penske.I was hoping for more prose, however. Much of the book looks like a collection of photos I've already seen in the Cranbrook Archives.

Brings back a lot of great memories.
I lived in Bloomfield Township but spent a lot of time at many of the places mentioned in the book. I also remember many of the families mentioned. The pictures and maps were fantastic.

The Blooming of Bloomfield Hills
This book is a fascinating visual history of Bloomfield Hills, located 20 miles north of Detroit, from its beginnings in the early 19th century to the mid twentieth century. It is evident that Blackwell has done considerable research to document the evolution of rolling farmlands into an affluent city where businessmen, entertainers, artists and architects thrive. Her book is a tribute to those pioneering families with vision, effort and generosity who created this work of art known as Bloomfield Hills. Cranbrook, its educational treasure with a high-ranking private school and institutions, has been chosen as a National Historic Landmark.
