Valterra 200-CU20 PVC Swing/Spring Combination Check Valve, Clear, 2" Union

This product was perfect for my spa to replace a broken backflow from another manufacturer. I found it relatively easy to install. I used silicon for o-rings and heavy teflon tape, and had no leaks.

We have had our pond for more than 20 years and I wish I had originally used this check valve. I am so glad I replaced our valve with this one. It made the waterfall work so much better. I highly recommend this product.

I purchased this check valve to replace an older valve on my pool. The old valve was allowing water to flow in the wrong direction, and even though I replaced the flapper on the old valve, it continued to let water back up and it would lower the water level in the spa every night when the system was off. It took a little work to install the valve, I had to cut out the old valve and make some adjustments with the PVC piping, but I very much like the concept that since the check valve has slip connectors, it can be replaced very easily in the future... check valves don't last forever. The check valve is also in clear plastic, so it is easy to see the valve in action... it is easy to see if a twig or something got into the system and is causing the valve to seat incorrectly, thereby allowing water to go in the wrong direction when the system is off. High recommend!

I've purchased 3 of them. With the first one I overtightened one of the union fitting and it became impossible to untighten. I ended up buying another. With the second one, I used a good amount of Teflon tape around the union threads that worked well. The valve itself works wonderfully. So well that I decided to replace the other check valve in my pool plumbing. Time will tell how well the internal mechanism sustains the chlorine water and how well the plastic handles the UV from the sun (the pool equipment gets a lot of sun).

This sweet check valve was excellent for keeping high pressure sewage from spewing uncontrollably out of my toilet. Now the poop goes DOWN, not up! I love it!!

This check valve was ordered to replace the loud THUNK check valve installed on my ejector pit. Installation requires some engineering, cutting, and solvent gluing PVC adapters to the existing line. I have installed these check valves on sump pump lines without difficulty and satisfactorily, so I believe this one will go "in" and be just as satisfactory as my sump pump line installations.

I had high hopes for the install, as it was a similar replacement for the existing on in my system coming out the pool filter housing. Bought 2 of them hoping the union connections would make both locations easier to install and maintain in the future. Unfortunately on both assemblies, getting a water tight seal was impossible, such that water consistently leaks out the back of the threaded union. I supposed I could try teflon tape and keep messing with it, however it’s not worth playing with it at this point. Switching to a jandy slip fit and not messing with threaded connections anymore.
