Can you confirm the size of the transformer ?i need to check to see if it will fit in the same place as my current 8v transformer

If it helps, I have an integrated 8v transformer in my chime box and it won’t fit. I need to take that off and install the transformer in its place.

How long will recordings will be saved if i don't pay a subscription? is it 7 days like the arlo pro system i have? not buying if subscription reqd.

The Arlo Doorbell Video Kit offers a 3-month Arlo Smart subscription trial so you can take full advantage of the Smart features for free for 3 months.

The Smart features available with the Arlo Smart plan are as follows:

■ 30-days cloud recording

■ Detection of people, vehicles, animals and packages

■ Smart activity zones

■ Rich notifications with preview pictures and live streaming option from your smartphone screen

After the trial period expires, Arlo Video Doorbell requires a paid subscription to take advantage of these Smart features, the cloud recording, and voicemail on the Arlo Video Doorbell.

If you connect your Arlo Video Doorbell to one of the following Arlo base stations or SmartHub, you will be able to take advantage of the free local storage:

■ Pro and Pro 2 base station - VMB4000 and VMB4500 (local storage on USB) ;
■ Arlo Pro 3 SmartHub - VMB4540 (local storage through USB);
■ Arlo Ultra SmartHub - VMB5000 (local storage with direct access to SD card).

Please keep in mind that a USB device or a SD card for local storage are not included with the Arlo base stations or SmartHubs.

Question 4

Does it have a receiver end that can be kept inside the house? Or only connects to phone?

I bought an Alexa Echo Show and set that up to view the camera when someone presses the doorbell.  You can also use any Alexa devices in the house to notify you when the bell is pressed.  This could save you having to buy additional chimes from Arlo.
