6R60/75/80 Transmission Repair Manual (6R60 Transmission - 6R60 Transmission Master Kit - 6R60 Explorer - Best Repair Book Available!)

Bought the Manual for my 6R80 transmission and proceeded to read all the steps, and figured out i didn't want to buy about a thousand dollars worth of specialty tools just to rebuild one transmission, but at least with this Manual i can at least diagnose where and what the problem maybe.

A must have manual if working on this transmission.

As a trans builder I own several of the atsg books and they are my go too when I need to know clutch clearances, electrical schematics, sprag rotations, apply charts etc. Some are written better and have more info than others, this is one of their better written books packed with info, although there is some faults in it ex. in one of the illustrations it shows the forward piston return spring being put in backwards. For someone doing their 1st rebuild that can cause a costly mistake, which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. This book helps alot for expierenced builders, if this is your 1st build believe me when I tell you this is one of the last transmissions you want to do for your 1st build. If your determined be sure to use a sonnax zip kit and replace all your solenoids as every one of these ive done the problems was always within the valvebody and/or solenoids, the clearances are very tight and unforgiving

I ordered this book in order to repair my 6R60 but the book is mainly about the 6R80, the 6R60 and the 6R80 major components are the same but the details are very different and it have missing very important details, one of the many is the valve body solenoid damper bumpers, all 6 of my transmission where crushed smooth i though they're supposed to be like that until i found on you tube that they are round, another very confusing information is the direct clutch assembly, in my 6R60 transmission the direct clutch piston go first, the direct clutch balance piston go second and the direct clutch piston return spring go last, in the book the direct clutch piston go first THE direct clutch piston return spring go second and the direct clutch balance piston go last and the problem is that there is no info on the web about that, im still looking for info about the way it supposed to be assembled, and if you need information from ATSG you have to pay, there is no chance for free help, this book is good for the 6R80 but not for the 6R60
