A long time coming.
Lucky thought love had passed him by. Zach wasn't looking for love. Then SAR training school brought them back together and they both realized all they needed to do was reach out a hand.

Loved it, a bit rushed
Great story. More could have been done with the stalker and the ex and there was no wrap up regarding the first kiss.

3.5 Stars rounding up
I’ve liked this series and I was excited to read Lucky’s story. He was introduced in the first book as a sweet 15 year old, then showed up in the second as a resourceful and snarky 16 year old before his appearance in the third book at age 17, where he met Zach. Now 20 years old in the summer before his senior year of college, Lucky is still as kind, enthusiastic, and fun as he was as a teen. Lucky as a character is great, totally endearing and admirable. Lucky and his story of working to be certified as a helicopter rescue person while also having to work with his first big heartbreaking crush was a 5 star story. Unfortunately for Lucky and for me, the object of his affection was Zach. And Zach was a brooding, insecure, angst-ridden wreck who bailed on Lucky over and over again, not getting over himself until the final chapter.I know that there’s a sizeable audience for broken/damaged characters who are lost in their pain and put the other MC though a LOT before finding a HEA. I see these types of characters and books raved about, so it’s not that this isn’t a good book (it is), it’s just not a good fit for me as a reader. I like my guys to be kind, emotionally mature, and generally angst free. Zach isn’t a character written for me, and I didn’t enjoy him. Oh well!

I really liked this
This is the first book I've read in this series (I'm aware it's out of order) and at first I didn't even notice it was co-authored by Lucy Lennox, which is probably a good thing. It only became apparent when weird old ladies appeared.I liked the pace of the book and the fact that there were some good action scenes.I'm always rather uncomfortable when there's a big age gap between characters. The exact gap was never stated and even at the end Zach's age was given as "thirty something"I appreciated the moments when Zach was vulnerable and when Lucky stood up for himself.I intend to go back to the beginning of the series and read the rest

Allowed To Love & To Be Loved!
Tasked to check on close friends’ son, Rescue Trainer Zach is reluctant because the son Paramedic and college student Lucky has a crush on him. Initially, I was not a fan of this storyline. The MC Zach is intense, growly, hard, and even mean which sets a dark tone to the tale. It’s the “I’m angry because I don’t want to want you” bit. However, understanding, compassion, and love prevail, of course. My one critique is the big reveal, seemed over-the-top dramatic and not keeping with Zach’s personality, which made it superficial or inauthentic. All in all, an interesting read. Rating: 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Didn't care for Zach
Maybe spoilers...I adore Lucky to pieces. His resilience, pure, incredible FORGIVING heart. But man...he didn't make Zach work for it at all. He came across as a pushover and at times a doormat. While Zach was a jerk and a coward. Ugh. I wanted to root for this couple so bad but there were things that bothered me and taint the story early on.In the beginning when they reunited again, Zach thought about hooking up with someone else. Because seeing Lucky was too much for his heart and his libido. Poor, sweet Lucky was so smitten and love sick while Zach considers slaking his lust and desire with another? Didn't happen but it still pissed me off. Another was the cliched "first time". Zach taking Lucky's virginity and hightailing it out of there. But don't worry he came back later to apologize. And for seconds. Me, I would have kicked him in the balls.Honestly, I am so disappointed in Zach's character. I expected more from him. His hot & cold behavior got old. I understand he had a bad past. Certainly that horrid love affair and his PTSD contributed into one broken mess of a man. But still. Enough was enough. He needed to stop wallowing and being an insensitive, cruel jackass. I wouldn't have put up with it as long as Lucky did. I am a firm believer in tough love. Know your worth. Like "Lucky, buddy. Let him fight for you once. Let him chase you. Don't make it so damn easy for him." I just wanted to reach into the book and SHAKE him. And smack Zach for good measure. There were moments that Zach did show his vulnerable and tender side for Lucky. When he didn't battle his feelings so hard. And just give in. But then suddenly the walls would go back up again. And again. He wants Lucky but he doesn't deserve him. He pushes him away then wants to claim him again. Agghh. Had my head spinning. Not to mention how tiresome it was seeing Lucky being the main pursuer. Chasing after Zach. Acquiescing to his rules. Hiding their relationship. Then being turn away whenever he got too close yet again. Not my favorite book. There was not enough grovel to justify the amount of heartbreak. And rejection Lucky had to suffered nearly to the end. Zach didn't get his head out of his ass and man up until his brother talked sense to him. At the end of the book! And that simple declaration on top of a table? The grand gesture to win Lucky back?? Didn't impress me. Guy was LUCKY (pun intended) he was given those 4th & 5 chances.

What happened to Calvin?
The book is good except why bring in a character and then leave why he showed back up or what happened to him after the main characters had the typical HEA? Usually I would assume it was the set up for the next book in the series. But can find no mention of another entry. So come on that was something that was left unresolved and is just plain aggravating! Oh well guess I will just write the next one in my head.

Lucky got Lucky!
Been waiting on this one from young Lucky. Thank goodness it got the ending i wanted!Love this series so much. It could be read as standalone but the other books in the series are equally as good!Lucky is keeping secrets from his Dad's. One is his career path. He doesn't want to give up his dreams but he doesn't want to disappoint his parents. He knows they'd worry and he would give it up to save them that. Two, theres his love life. He's not told them about a guy at school he's having problems with. He feels all the pressure of this but he's certain he needs to do the advanced SAR course. So once again he's not going home for the summer he's going to go after his dream before he has to give it up.Zach is suffering in silence. After coming back after his deployment he's a broken man. His friend offers him a job as a trainer at his advanced SAR camp. Zach takes it knowing its only for a few weeks then he'll find somewhere else to go. Alone. When Lucky see's his instructor hope ignites. Zach is his crush from childhood. Maybe he can prove to Zach that he's good enough for him. When Zach see's Lucky his heart sinks. He knows he's about to hurt Lucky once again. But the temptation is there like a lit fire under his skin. Both come to an arrangment that might just break them both.I loved this story. Soooo much hope runs through it. Theres a lot of push and pull on Zach's part which sometimes made you want to shake him! Poor Lucky. Such a good kind soul he was so patient going for what he wanted. He often ended up hurting himself but it was so admirable the way he fought for both of them. I did think that Zach got off lightly with the grovelling but i got his reasoning throughout. My heart broke for them both really but Zach had a lot going on and to him his reasoning was sound. Thankfully he pulled his head out in the end and gave us all the HEA we wanted.Great to see the rest of the family too. I love catching up with them all. Some great love scenes but my fave parts were the heart to hearts the guys had. Loved when they opened their hearts to each other it was really emotional.Great plot and story that had me turning those pages all day till it was done. Hoping theres more to come?! Ex bully Cal maybe? Please?Highly recommend. These two authors are just fantastic, you can't go wrong with either of their books.

the drama
It’s been a while since I read Lucy Lennox and I had forgotten how much she loves ‘drama’! Jeez! Could Zach get over himself already ! Urrgh! I have read so many books with mature communication & a real effort to work through one’s challenges that I simply got irritated by Zach’s stubbornness. Lucky was sweet but really his willingness to do anything for Zach was a bit annoying at times. I let it pass though as who hasn’t done stupid things for love. The crazy aunt , goat, grandma & boyfriend were totally unnecessary but it’s Sloane Kennedy 🙄 it did not add to the book. The book is okay. Good to see how these two end up together but not sure I’m over my self imposed Lucy Lennox break. 3.75 🌟 oh & the mystery element was well written especially the mountain scene but the villain want hard to figure out.

Fabulous read as always!
They did it again another imaginative and brilliantly written book. They take the reader and put them in the book with the characters and you can live with them. The characters have a huge depth to them that makes the reader fall in love with them a little.Lucky has been in love since he was eighteen but he's had to walk away from that love . But now he has a chance to have a little of that love. He knows there are rules but can he follow them.Zach wants to live a no strings attached life, well that's what he tells himself. But when a deal is struck it will harder than Zach thinks to hold himself back.As always from these author another emotional, fantastic plot, and characters to love. These writes write about the most beautiful men even if they are a little damaged . Really brilliant read and I can't recommend it strongly enough.

Loved it
This is a great addition to this series. It has my attention from page one and kept it. There were times i wanted to throttle both main characters, but they got their he's in the end, it just didn't come easy. It's a brilliant duo of writers. I have read everything they have both written and have never been disappointed.Highly recommend reading.

Amazing
These girls are an instant download for me as whatever they write I know it's going to be amazing. This did not disappoint. I loved Lucky when we met him earlier in the series and was so excited to finally read his story. Both Zach and Lucky were well written and insanely loveable, the way they came together was absolutely perfect for them as a couple and I honestly found myself unable to put this book down, I was just completely consumed by their story. Absolutely loved the story over all and felt the drama was well paced. I look forward to more from these two both together ans individually.
