Complicated and intricate
After you take an hour or so to read all the directions and get it set up, it was fun! I like the cool look of it. My adult kids played it without me ( I'm in my 60"s) and said it was fun.

You will love this game win or lose!
I am a huge fan of both Back to the Future, and table top board gaming. I am no stranger to games that are made out of an existing franchise. Sometimes it is done very poorly, and sometimes it is done well. This game does a good job! When you turn a story into a game. You have to capture the essence, while not making it a boring game. It can't be too word for word the movie, and it can't stray too far from the source material. It is clever to have Einstein and Jennifer join the group so you can have a 4 player game, and not have it restricted to 2 (Marty and Doc). Unique abilities with each player make replay a must. The randomness of the challenges, and perks you can acquire can really make the game a nail biter. Our first play through it was down the wire.... and we lost! I still had so much fun. The board is a very cute representation of Hill Valley, even complete with pop up clocktower that doubles has a dice tower!!!! So well thought out. I love that as you continue to fail your main objectives, the iconic family photo begins to show Mary's family disappearing in a clever way. The components are nice, the Delorean is detailed, the character models are unique. This game has a great art style that is it's own but pays a good homage to the artistic direction of the movies themselves. AND I CAN'T FORGET The rule book is disguised as the comic Tales from Space featured in the film! Even the board has a nice visual queue when opening for the first time as you get a nice shot of the flux capacitor. All in all this game is fun to play, follows the narrative well, and is a great cooperative experience for you and your friends/family. Working together is what makes this game great!

Back to The Future - Back in Time: If it was too easy it wouldn't be fun
What a great game. Easily 5 stars. Our 9 year old loves it and can't wait until we play the next game. The theme and production quality are top notch, except in our case 3 of the plastic characters pieces (Jennifer, George, and Lorraine) are leaning to one side noticeably - but does not affect play of the game. There is a strategy aspect to the game where each character's ability, moves and rolls MUST be optimized. This requires discussion and planning with your teammates. If the the character's strengths at the start of the game aren't leveraged (for example, at the start Marty can roll two blue dice and has the ability to move Lorraine towards him), it is very hard to win. It is also critical to join forces with other characters sharing the same square to improve the chances of successfully winning a challenge. You have to cooperate and plan with each other. Yes sometimes the dice go against you but the fun is trying to overcome it rather than looking to fix something that isn't broken. Before blaming the dice, I suggest approaching each loss as an opportunity to learn from mistakes and consider what to try differently next time. This game is challenging as cooperative games should be. I've read other reviews complain that Biff comes up too often or house rules are needed. I completely disagree. Luck is a factor in this game with the dice roll, however I don't see the fun in a game that is easy to win. We've played about 10 times and have won twice. Both times the victory came on the last player's turn before 10:04 pm. Both times we cheered and high-fived each other. It was thrilling and we excitedly talked about what happened during the game that got us to victory. This is the experience I want from a great co-op board game. We've also had the game end early because of rolling Biffs and the picture fading away. Yes, we complain bitterly how Biff wouldn't give us a break and then we eagerly set up for the next game to try again. I suppose if you can't stand to lose then this game may not be fun for you. This game is no different than other co-op games like Pandemic, Forbidden Desert, etc - you're going to lose more than win, even more so if you don't play together as a team.

Fun, but hard
Have played this game multiple times with family and friends. It's super engaging if you're a fan of the movies. The objectives can be challenging to complete. I will say, in one evening, my group of 3 played this at least 3 times, and failed to complete all the objectives by end game, resulting in a loss. It was nevertheless fun and challenged us to keep trying. Would recommend if you are up to the challenge.

Great art. Fun mechanics. Deceptively difficult!
We bought this for our 8 year old who is a big Back to the Future fan. Upon opening the game, we were impressed by the quality of the components and artwork. The designers have done a really nice job of balancing the game and making it challenging to win. The mechanics take awhile to get used to, the main thing just being the order of things happening during a turn. Admittedly the game is designed for 10 and up but if your child is a strong reader and has patience, this could work for them as well so long as there's someone a little older to help with the rules. We're really enjoying the game thus far even though we have yet to win!

The game sure requires coordination from all the players in order to win. Really love it though. The figurines are rich in detail but not painted. If you enjoy painting minis, you can make them really come to live. (you can play without painting them).

Really great fun, but I had to go in without my Euro hat on. Great for the theme and emergent story. There is a fun challenge of trying to get enough upgrades and items to counter luck and the terminator like Biff. Assisting others on their turn really helps too. If I was to play it solo I would play with 3 characters instead of 2, due to how much assisting can help especially on the last turn. It's easier to be in the same location as other characters if there are 3 characters on the board than just 2. There are 14 turns in a 2 player game, and 18 turns in a 3 player game, only 4 extra. Great production too.
