Super Strong Block & Tackle Rig for use in Elk Hunting and Butchering Too
GREAT LIFT SYSTEM! SUPER STRONG! VERY WELL MADE!Everything about this block and tackly pully system is superb and heavy duty. The two 3-inch triple-pully sets are made of heavy-duty steel throughout. And for each pully set, the flat 6" integral pully hanger attachment is likewise heavy-duty steel. That piece extends 1 3/4" beyound each end of the pully set, bringing the entire length of each pully set to 6 1/2" inches. The three pins in each pully set are permanently affixed and should never need to be removed, since each of the three 1 1/2"pullies per set are also steel and should never wear or break. That means that there are no threaded bolts and nuts to accidently loosen, or to snag the rope at any time. In addition, each of the two three-inch carabiners (one per pully set, intended for attachment to the outside end of each pully set) is also heavy-duty steel, far beyond the strength of any aluminum carabiner I have ever seen. Finally, the 3-braid yellow nylon rope, advertized as being 55' long, measures about 1/2" in diameter, as does the heavy-duty gambrel, and both appear to be quite strong. After a lot of searching over weeks, I bought this block & pully rig - the SUPER MAG 6:1 RATIO LIFT SYSTEM - through Amazon for $45, and what a bargain it is! I'll use it for solo elk hunting out West, to hang the meat quarters and caped head and antlers, to ensure their temporary safety from most critters.

Good enough.
Nice little system.I purchased mine to use as a light duty hoist to aide in hoisting and holding a rooftop cargo box up to the ceiling of my garage. At that it performs splendidly. The cable brake system is nice and simple. It pinches the rope to hold it in place. This is not something I would set and expect to leave holding a load for an extended period of time. But it will definitely do the trick to hang on to the cable for a short while.I really like the included carabiner shackles that are present on both ends of the hoist. These clips have a notched but not quite locking gate. I expect they are up for the task. The gambrel attachment, while not anything for which I have a use, appears to be well made and capable of handling what a weekend hunter might throw at it.The only thing I find some cause to complain about are the pulley sheaves. There are two problems. First, these are constructed of plastic and are by no means the final word in terms of quality componentry. One of the sheaves on my unit has a small burr that looks like it might knick the rope and hasten its demise. I'll probably smooth it out with some high grit sandpaper and call it a day. Second, there is quite a bit of friction from the sheaves to their axel. This undoubtedly causes one to need more force when hoisting. But, what does one expect when we're twenty five bucks. All told I think it worth the price but definitely not something I'd expect to bequeath.

Just what you want!
As a hunter, this is everything that you need, IT'S not lightweight, so that heavy Buck isn't enough to overload this! The rope is very long! The framework is top quality steal with enamel paint and it works smoothly!I use this too lift a framework for my Lawnmower during non hunting season, my zero turn mower has a framework with a mower cloth cover that I lift up and down with one arm yet the framework is not light, this worked out great for both my needs! So eve if you're not a hunter, but wanted to lift something that i heavier than you want to lift often, this at $25 is unbelievable good deal! Get yours today!

Thank you, may I have another
I really like this gambrel. I just put it up in the garage yesterday. It's made in CHINA, just FYI.It comes with plenty of rope,50+ ft. The locking "hook" seem hokie to me. Not sure if i'll trust that as my lock. So I just tied a length of it off to a anchor point on my foundation of the garage. Extra security, I guess. Last thing I want to do is drop my dinner on the floor.Says it's rated for 1500lbs,IDK about that. It is however surprisingly strong! I haven't had a deer on it of course, but I did hoist my "DEAR" wife as she held onto it. My turn: I tied the rope off and did hang from it and actually did a pull up on it. I'm 240lbs+/- so if it holds me, I know it'll sling my venison in the air while I do my work. Overall I'm happy with it. The metal seems solid for deer/big game hoisting purposes. I hope I get to use it soon ,if ya know what I'm sayin'.Happy hunting and be safe, ethical and respectful in and outta the woods.Good luck from one hunter to another.*I've noticed lots of people online asking how to hang these or what others do. I won't put up my method here but will do so in the comments for anyone curious or interested in a example of how you could hang it. [In a finished garage; finished ceiling.] That way if you don't need this info you can skip it. Thanks, be safe and good luck in the woods.UPDATE: I've used this to hang a Doe. As I've stated above, I did a pull-up on this and I know I weigh more than my dressed out Doe. So zero issues holding up the deer. I really like this and it was very sturdy as I worked on my processing. You know how much pulling you do while skinning. It did great and made processing my own deer enjoyable and pretty simple. Very rewarding experience and I'm proud to be doing this myself. No complaints with this gambrel.

I use the hoist for everything.
Purchased it to hang my deer. The Pully system works well enough for one person to house up a large deer by themselves, and it locks easily into place. Now I use it to hoist up my lawnmower so I can sharpen the blades on it (Yes I do use a jack stand before I crawl under it). But the Pully is strong enough that I can hoist up the mower without assistance.
