Holy. Crap. Blinding speed, OCR, paper guides, the works.
Okay, so I’ve been using scanners since the beginning. Through all types and iterations of flatbeds, resolutions, auto-feeders, and not-so-great OCR readers. My last one was the ScanSnap s1500. I was soo impressed with it, that when it finally came time for a replacement, I went for the latest and greatest ScanSnap. This iX1600 is that scanner.First, I should say that my old one is still working, but the rollers are getting gummy, and starting to break down after more than 10 years of daily service. Nothing else is wrong with it, which is a testament to how well these are built. So, when I got this iX1600, I expected more of the same. I was NOT prepared for how much the company had improved it. The speed of the scans is ridiculous. Ree-diculous. I thought the s1500 was fast, but this is insane. The software is leaps and bounds ahead of the s1500, and super configurable for techies like me. Pretty much anything at all can be changed. The scanner can even be set to run completely wirelessly (except for power, of course), and you can just drop documents into it and have it can to the cloud using WiFi.There’s a guide that comes with it for receipts of two different sizes, as well as regular paper. My old one would balk at heavier card stock, but this one powers through whatever I put in it, rotating/deskewing/processing the text into searchable words, and asks for more. This is, without a doubt, the most amazing scanner I’ve ever used. The only single ‘ding’ I can give it, is that the cover closed more smoothly and slowly on my s1500.Hope this helps.

love my ScanSnap scanners
I bought this for my second house rather than flying it back and forth every summer. I have had ScanSnap scanners for many years, and this is my second of this model. The wi-fi works well, and it has the ability to change resolution, scan to jpg or pdf (maybe otehr things). I don't scan receipts, but if you need to scan a lot of receipts, it ships with an attachment that can make that easier. The ADF holds enough for my use and doesn't jam. I got a good price on Amazon, with free Prime shipping, so I didn't get it directly from Fujitsu, which would have been more expensive. I have never had any problems with any of my ScanSnap scanners and highly recommend them.

BUY IT! You won't be sorry
I cannot believe how good this scanner is. I through out my old Epson scanner after it would no longer communicate. But I don't miss it for a second. The UI on this Scansnap IX1600 scanner is impressive. I realized I quit using the old Epson because it was so much trouble to scan and name a file, then find it later. This makes it so easy I look forward to it now. This scanner allows you to create up to 30 unique profiles and it shows up on the display. I created several other profiles so I could just pick a profile on the display and scan the item into exactly the appropriate folder location set up for that type of document. For instance, I had well over a thousand pictures of my son's sports from over the years and instead of storing in a closet, I created a profile named Sports and scanned them up to a Dropbox for the rest of the family to see. Initially, I was really concerned about how the pictures would scan, but I was quickly blown away. They come out better than the picture itself and even at the maximum resolution setting average less than .5 Mb each. I could place a handful of pictures (up to 50) at a time and this scanner never skipped a beat. So getting through over a thousand pictures was a breeze. Then grab a handful of receipts of different sizes, pick the receipt profile and scan them in...simple. And shockingly to me I put a dozen or so receipts of many different sizes and shapes at the same time and they just went through easily. It would never be that simple on my old Epson. One of the best features to me was/is the duplex function which allows the scanning of both sides of the paper at the same time. I had several boxes of documents that I needed to scan so I could shred all the paper afterwards thus reducing storage space. I created a profile and turned on the duplex function, then scanned thousands of documents. If a paper was printed on two sides, it would scan both sides at once and the speed of the scan was not impacted. And if there was nothing on the back of a page, it would not scan a blank page (that's a setting in the profile). Needless to say, I was able to easily scan numerous documents that I didn't want to throw away, but I didn't want to store in boxes either.I was able to reduce about 15 boxes down to 3, keeping the most recent stuff and digitizing/archiving the rest. I hauled out at least ten full bins of confetti after shredding so many documents and pictures. So just to sum up, with my old scanner I never wanted to scan anything because I knew how much work it would be and it would not scan pictures. This Scansnap IX1600 scanner is fun to use and very easy. When I get home with a handful of receipts I can select receipts profile throw all the receipts in and scan them, then shred.I am really, really happy I chose this scanner, it's a dream to use!

Absolutely LOVE the ScanSnap!!
I’ve had the same ScanSnap IX400 in my office for the past nine years. I use it frequently and it STILL works amazingly well. I recently bought two of these IX1600 scanners for the office and they have only gotten better.Regular Documents - They scan incredibly fast which makes tedious work go by quickly, and they turn scanned pages into text searchable pdfs - which makes our accounting files so much more accessible.Pictures - I’ve also used it to scan photos for a photo album with about 250 photos. It honestly scans pictures really well. And while I wouldn’t recommend this if your only purpose for buying a scanner is photographs, it does a pretty good job for regular photos and smaller picture projects.Business Cards - Its a great tool to declutter your space of all the small business cards you’ve been hesitant to toss. After it scans, it extracts all of their information into a digital business card file. There are sometimes minor errors, but the screen prompts for a quick check before accepting the file.Cost - It seems a bit pricey, but I’ve purchased three printer/scanner combos for the owner in the same time I’ve had my scanner and he has had countless issues with them, not to mention the added time it takes to scan. Those three combined, cost more than my ScanSnap, which is still going strong. So I finally replaced his with this newer model ScanSnap. Trust me, it’s worth it.I highly recommend this ScanSnap if you scan a lot of documents or simply want a quick scanner that will last for a decade or more.
