Dock Edge 2808-F Dock Cleat, 8" Galvanised, Silver

A really good, inexpensive replacement for cleats that will be used in a harsh environment.

Previously I bought the large size boat dock cleat which I used in the garage to raise the ladder up off floor and mounted it to the ceiling. I just ordered one that is a little bit smaller and I have them both mounted to the wall stud that way I can wrap the excess lifting cord around the (two) 2 cleats when I raise the extension ladder back up to the ceiling and it misses the overhead garage door with, I think it’s a great ideal! The garage door opens and it misses the two ladders are strapped together, so far it’s still working perfectly! I still have one unit left, I still have two extension ladders that the parts are not mounted yet, I just have to space them out on the garage ceiling so they miss the overhead door! I am very satisfied with these boat cleats. They work very well and I recommend them.

Others complained, but like another reviewer, I don't see the problems with these cleats, especially for the price. The holes were the exact correct size for 5/16 hex head galvanized bolts. Galvanizing was even enough with no missed areas. Yes, its not super-smooth but there were no sharp edges likely to cut ropes as far as I could tell, as some reviewers said. Base seemed level and bolted down fine onto my boat slip planks. Perhaps if you had a big fancy boat their looks may not please you but for my 27 year old, 26 foot sailboat they were just fine!

I am using the cleat to tie off some awkward tools in the garage. This with a pulley is perfect for my needs.

I can't figure out why there are bad reviews for these galvanized dock cleats. I mounted four of them on my dock and couldn't be any more pleased.

Perfect for the dock

I bought this cleat for a home kit I put together to teach and practice knots. I have family members who come with me on the sailboat occasionally and I find it useful to give them a quick training for few of the common knots I may ask them to do on the boat when they help me dock, put up the fenders and tidy the lines.The quality of the item is barely OK for this kind of a kit but I wouldn't rely on these on an actual boat or dock. It feels too light, the finish is really rough (the ropes get hung on them) and it really looks like spray painted not hot dipped or actually galvanized. The edges and ends show underlying material.I gave them three stars because I wasn't expecting much for the price and it's OK for my home kit.If you're planning to use these on a boat or dock, look elsewhere.
