Kingston MobileLite Plus (MLPM) microSD Card Reader USB 3.1 microSDHC/SDXC UHS-II

This card reader is really fast and works as it should.Would recommend this product to anyone thinking of buying.

I’ve been struggling with various card readers, some that come in a USB dongle, but they were never that fast and took up space. This was recommended by a friend and I need to thank him because it’s the smallest and fastest reader I own. Some may not like the fact it’s not UBS-C, but I have a PC with a front USB 3.1 input and it’s perfect.

Arrived in good time and works well.

THE GOOD:This UHS-II card reader also supports the unofficial DD208 extension to UHS-I, so you can read 8-pin cards which also support DDR208 at up to 180 MB/s. In my testing I could read such a card at 155 MB/s.It's slightly slower at reading than my other card reader, and is comparable at writing. Where I can read at 300 MB/s the same card in this reader only achieves 269 MB/s (~10% slower), and for writing it sometimes faster (e.g. 209 vs 224 MB/s), sometimes slower (280 vs 242 MB/s) when using the same card in a different reader.THE BAD:I find it hard to grip the microSD card when removing it, as my fingers don't seem to fit in the curved space provided. I have to resort to quite awkward pinching, or using a tool to help me remove it. There's no push-in/push-out clicking interface.UHS-II microSD cards get really hot when running fast - while writing this review the card I was writing to reached 138ºC. I don't think a plastic chassis is a good idea, as that doesn't allow the card to cool, and will likely reduce its useful lifespan.I'm keeping this as my backup SD card reader, since its tiny and fast, but uncomfortable to use and cheap feeling. Despite costing more than my primary SD card reader, being a bit slower, and made of plastic instead of metal.

Incredibly fast and robust.

The design is very good, minimalistic and clean looking. Quality of plastic and overall build quality is good. When you slot in the SD card, it has a tactile bump so you know you've inserted the card properly. Transfer speeds I get with this reader are great, I max out the read/write performance of my microSD card.

Works great, transfers data to and fro with ease.

It can actually read and write UHS-II speeds.It does feel very cheap, light plastic build quality. They could have had microSD slot as well but decided to sell that as a separate product. Please don’t buy tha microSD slot model. Just buy the full SD card size model and use a card adapter if you need to.Again made with cheap feeling plastic unlike previous model made with metal.
