Great new product for me
The Faber Castell gell sticks are amazing. The colors are so bright and the sticks are easy for my hands to hold. I enjoy painting and these gel sticks make it a lot easier. I really like the fact that you can draw on canvas and then add a spritz of water to get a water color effect. My daughter enjoys stamping and she has found that these gel sticks are great for stamps as well. Just rub the get stick on the stamp and spritz with water to get the stamp effect. This is a great new product for me, My only caution is that when you do draw, be careful not to rub the picture. These gel sticks are like pastels and will rub off if you are not careful.

The gelatos (I mean gel sticks) are awesome for artists and kids
Faber castell has recently introduced gelatos, and are marketing them to artists and paper crafters. They bundle four of them for $10 - this is exactly the same product, but marketed to kids, I guess. If you like watercolor pencils or crayons, you will love these, and they are different. The colors are vibrant, and the application is creamy. They react wonderfully with water, and blend easily. You can color them on wetted stamps and stamp, use them with stencils, direct to paper, or use them with a brush. If you like water colors, give them a try. The metallic gel sticks are also fabulous.

Love Them, But Overpriced
This impressive set of gel sticks boasts rich and vibrant colors. They go on creamy-smooth, and you can apply water for a watercolor effect. I’m getting started in Bible journaling, and there are lots of artists using these to create veritable masterpieces of art in their Bibles. I am far from being an artist, but I feel like one while using these “Gelatos.” They indulge my creative bent!

These beat Gelatos
I looked into buying Gelatos from Michaels Art store. They were $10.00 for three Gelatos and not the colors I wanted. The faber gel crayons work exactly the same. I did get to practice with the Gelatos at a free Michaels class. They are great for mixed media art or anyone who likes to use oil pastels but they are water soluble but dry to a permanent finish. They can be blended with fingers or paint brushes and stick to a variety of surfaces - wood, fabric, glazed surfaces. The colors are true. They are defintely worth the price.

Faber gel sticks
LOVE THESE! These are amazing; you can watercolor with them, and use dry and blend them like pastels. The consistency is a little harder than lipstick. They blend beautifully! I use them to color in stamped images, and for artwork and to add shimmer on top of markered images. I even combined these with water and put them in Tim Holtz/Ranger Mini Mister bottles and made my own shimmery mists in the colors I wanted. Similar mists are $5 and up each! There are many tutorials on YouTube if you want more information. These have become so popular with crafters I could not find them for a good price anywhere else except Amazon. This is not considered artist grade but I think they are good enough and are wonderful.I recommend you also buy the 12 count non - metallic gel sticks.

Same as Gelatos
As far as I can tell, these are exactly the same as gelatos, but much more reasonably priced. I compared the gold gel stick with a gold gelato I had previously purchased and could not see any difference between the two. Same texture, color, they react identically with water. Even the plastic tubes are identical, save for one line of printing (one tube has the word gelatos, the other repeats Faber Castell). The only difference seems to be Gelatos come in more colors. Save your money and buy the Gel sticks, especially if you want to experiment with a new medium. I love these, but removed 1 star because you can't retract the stick back into the tube. That's just ridiculous. Even cheap twist out crayons can be retracted.

Kindergarten masterpieces await!
My Kindergartener began using these gel sticks on watercolor paper as if they were crayons. She drew a picture and then carefully went over each section in water, rinsing the brush in between colors. The result was a really gorgeous painting she gave to a close friend of the family. I'm blown away by the professional results she achieved at such a young age. I will definitely be purchasing more in the future to encourage her artistic tendencies and would recommend this product to anyone with a child who shows an aptitude toward art. It's a small investment that might yield incredible results.

Great Fun
I'm an artist so one of my favorite things to do with my 2 year old is painting and drawing. I had never used this product before but it was super easy, the colors glided on and when we finished drawing, we used sponge brushes to create a water color. I bought the regular and metallic set. I get tired of just scribbling with crayons so we used the watercolor sticks as a soft background, then metallic crayons on top, then chalks and finally glitter paint. The result was a stunning abstract that I plan on framing. Well done Faber-Castell on a great and very fun product!
