Suprisingly good at a great price
This jar pesto is very good, even though it doesn't contain nuts it is chunkier than most pestos, the way pesto should be. Often non-refrigerated jar pestos have a bitter taste and are too salty, this one is not. It's actually better tasting than many store bought refrigerated pesto, which are usually too smooth also. Better than the more expensive Barilla pesto, IMO.

Adorable & tasty
This pesto has the texture of a classic usually made with pine nuts and basil. But there are no pine nuts in it. Flavor is a rich salty basil w parmesan cut to make you think you're eating pine nuts, compared to Barilla pesto, which is basil and spinach. This is the better-tasting of the two. It is also adorable, because it comes in a 8 oz mason jar.Combine it with tuna, preferably the yellowfin tuna here in Amazon. I mixed it with that and some canned corn fresh or frozen snap peas pressure Frozen green beans. It was delightful! It is difficult to move the cursor on a cell phone inside this box so I'll shut up now.

Great taste and product
I love the olive oil they use, and their mix .Great product and taste. What I did not like was that whoever packaged the last shipment to me from AMAZON failed to put enough packaging into the box, and when it arrived it leaked all the olive oil into the box... and then on my floor,... my clothes and was leaking so ... unusable. I had a very bad experience, and a big job cleaning up the mess.

Try Making Your Own
I used to purchase this all the time. Then one day I had real, freshly made pesto at a restaurant, and never went back to the store-bought stuff. Now I make my own. Real pesto has fresh basil (not dried, as in Classico), fresh garlic (not garlic powder), olive oil (without the soybean oil found here), Parmesan cheese, and pine nuts (missing in the Classico). In the pesto I make, I use fresh basil, fresh garlic, high quality extra virgin olive oil, grated Romano and Parmesan cheese, and substitute almonds for the pine nuts (pine nuts are very expensive). With the cheese, you don't need added salt, but I do add pepper. I process it in a blender, spoon it into 8 oz. jars, keep one jar in the refrigerator, and freeze the rest. It freezes nicely. Don't use larger jars unless you are going to use the whole jar in less than a week.So why did I just buy jars of the Classico? I needed a couple more mason jars, and Classico uses the real thing. I did toss the pesto that came in it. I have nothing negative to say about the Classico though. As I said, I used to purchase it often. The other benefit of making it yourself is that it is much healthier, especially if you use a "real" extra virgin olive oil, with its healthy polyphenols. Amazon has many very good extra virgin olive oils, whereas most of the ones in the grocery stores are blended with low quality oils.If I didn't make my own pesto though, I would probably stick with the Classico. I tried a couple other ones way back, and they were no better.

Best out there...
This basil pesto is one of the best around and it's inexpensive. Give it a try. Even if it's just a quick lunch of noodles and a few scoops of this sauce and some parmesan cheese - it'll be much better than a lot of things you come up with! Throw in a meat and some veg and have a nice and quick pasta dish.

inexpensive "pesto" sauce is made from soybean oil instead of olive oil
All pesto recipes that I have seen show olive oil as the primary ingredient. This so-called pesto is uses soybean oil instead of olive oil. Some people will claim that soybean oil is healthier than olive oil, but this soy pesto has a noticeably flatter taste than even cheap olive oil pesto. I notice that Amazon does sell a Classico olive oil pesto (for a higher price).
