Standard Claw Meerschaum Pipes

Ordered two Meerschaum pipes for my brother. One (Eagle) broke while removing the stem for cleaning. The company was responsive and helpful and immediately replaced the pipe. He reports that the detail on the pipes is striking and that he enjoys them tremendously. Very happy with both the company and the pipes. Would recommend.

Pipe has a nice fit and finish, and appears to be carved from a single piece of meerschaum. Fitment of the stem to the bowl is tight, and looks well done. The stem is held on by tension, of course, and the fit is such that undue force is not required, but it is tight enough that I would never be concerned about it coming off unintentionally.Bore is smooth in the bowl and the stem, enabling easy cleaning with pipe cleaners. Angle of the stem is shallow, which limits the gurgling (moisture buildup) at the low point.Pipe is light weight, making for an easy no-hands smoke, and the bowl warms almost as much as a briarwood pipe while smoking it. Despite the reputation for meerschaum remaining cool in the hands, it does warm up nicely. I enjoy a warm pipe bowl, as I usually only smoke in the cooler months, so this is not a problem for me.The stem bore is just slightly on the large size, in my opinion. The smoke could be a bit smoother with a more regulated (as in, restricted) pipe stem. I suspect the bore is designed to help newer smokers keep their bowl lit, but it smokes a bit too fast for my liking. I get more smoking time, and a smoother smoke, out of my Savinelli dry system pipe--apples and oranges, I know, but I do prefer a slower smoke, even if it takes more careful packing to keep it going.4 stars for this pipe because a better smoke can be had from other pipes, and could be had form this one with a tweak to the stem bore.Overall a good looking and well-made piece, and visually pleasing on the shelf, even if I end up smoking it infrequently.

My experience began with Royal Meerschaum Exclusive pipes which are NOT block meerschaum (which are quite costly) & has been nothing short of excellent. They are meerschaum and minerals pressed into a cool smoking pipe with a neutral taste as a meerschaum should. They also offer Fimo Pipes which ARE 100% block meerschaum wrapped in Fimo clay then baked. They're small/mini pipes which I am used to as a Corn Cob pipe smoker. I get between 20-30 minutes enjoyment from a bowl depending on the type of tobacco (flakes last longer than shag cut). These pipes smoke extremely well, do not gurgle, do not impart any flavors to the tobacco and offer all the qualities you expect from meerschaum. I now have eight Royal Meerschaum Exclusive pipes & Fimos. They are a steal for the money and great people to deal with.

As an avid cigar smoker I have a pipe on occasion for when I run out of cigars or when I just feel like changing it up a bit. I ordered this towards the beginning of the year and LOVED how it looked and the feel of it. Recently I decided to use it and pulled it out of my case (a hard exterior, foam inside) and started using it. After about a dozen uses a friend looked over at my and asked what happened to the pipe as I was smoking it. When I looked I saw these cracks (see photos) all the way around the pipe. Never once was it dropped, always set on a pipe stand when I was not actively smoking it and when I was done for the day it always went back in the case. Never tapped it or anything to clean it either. While I know there is the warranty for it and all I am not interested in replacing it if it broke so easily. I will go back to a wood pipe.Oh and also not pictured, the plastic screw connector from the stem to the bowl cracked/shattered when I removed it exactly how the instructions said to.Overall very disappointed in the product and will not buy an imitation Meerschaum pipe like this again.

This little pipe is by far easy to smoke, It pulls well and empties easy once done. However its disappointing how fragile these pipes are. this one arrived with the front claw broken off. It was way too much hassle to try and ship back, so i kept it and gave it a try. Its great for quick smoke and requires little in the way of cleaning, all ash simply drops out with a tap, and a clean with a paper towel is enough to get most of the stain. Just be careful with these type pipes, they break easy.

Love the size and exquisite detail of design. Perfect for first timer and perfect gift for husband. Absolute great value!

This meersham pipe has wonderful detail and is a great conversation piece.
