Flawed, but I love it. Here’s what you need to know.
I love this cart, but it is mildly flawed. I’d like to give you the opportunity to decide if those flaws are worth living with, just in case your expectations are super high. To start, I do want to say that this car was like $200 or something when I bought it, whereas comparable ones from other places, such as ikea, we’re $600+. Ya girl ain’t got that kind of scratch lyin’ around right now, so this was the obvious choice. But you also get what you pay for. Setup: this is NOT a one person job. I LOVE putting together flat pack furniture, and there’s something about using the visual diagrams for assembly that really clicks with me. That said, I’ve put together a lottttttt of flat pack as a result. Not just my own, but friend and places of employ have found out about my love and happily toss it to me to take care of. The way this is meant to be set up, there are some times where you have to manipulate screws and locks in ways that could only be done by a two person team. So, for four or so steps, you will need an extra set of hands. I’d say that it took maybe two hours total to set up, and that included unboxing, stubbornly attempting to put it together on my own for a while, and later realizing that there’s a part in the instructions that LIED and having to redo it. Speaking of, the diagram for the drawers is messed up. It essentially tells you to put the sides on incorrectly, so when you go to slide the drawers into their slots, you’ll feel like you’re going crazy when it doesn’t work. Originally, I was going to give you the best way to tell if you’d done it correctly or not, but I set this up a couple months ago and have forgotten my own advice. Sorry. QUALITY/CONSTRUCTION: overall, it’s actually surprisingly sturdy. But there are a couple of noticeable flaws, like one of the doors having gap where two pieces of material weren’t fused together properly. Also, the doors actually don’t line up with one another and there’s literally nothing you can do about it, so one door will be slightly higher than it’s partner, but they’ll at least both still close. Also, because the doors are “attached” by... hmmm... having some metal pegs slid into a metal hinge but not otherwise permanently secured, if you’re a total dunce you can accidentally detach said doors and spend a few irritating minutes attempting to line up the pegs and holes again. Also, I don’t know how I missed this when purchasing it, but the whole thing is much thinner than I expected. While looking at measurements, I spent so much time making sure that I found a pice with the correct length to fit my space, I overlooked the depth. The interior capacity is about the depth of the long side of a 2 liter soda bottle. I was planning to store all of my lesser-used kitchen machinery and all my Tupperware inside, but it’s not quite as roomy as expected. Still, INCREDIBLY useful. OVERALL: for a much more affordable price than anything else I was looking at, this has brought me much joy. It’s super super sturdy, has given me a better way to organize certain objects as well as give me additional storage and counter space, and it looks great! ... as long as you don’t get too up close and personal with the details.

Very Satisfied Customer
Start off by saying I'm a 70 yr old single woman. When I received the box i noticed some dings, rips, and tape holding the box together was deteriorated and falling apart. I took pics just in case there was an issue. To my amazement, this kitchen cart was Very Well packaged. I removed all parts, inspected each piece, counted and made sure all parts were there (and they were) before starting this project. I followed the directions that was included and had only one problem. I put the first drawer together wrong, my fault, promptly corrected. I must say both drawers glide in smoothly and are even. They don"t hit the top when closing, as some people have stated. All 4 cupboard doors are even and close smooth and tight. I put this thing together myself, with no help at all and it all went together very nicely. It took me 5-6 hours to put this together. Best of all it looks really nice, is very sturdy, and has absolutely no flaws in it at all. I am a VERY HAPPY customer!!!

Looks great, not hard to put together, but needs better door magnets
First things first: it looks great, has a solid feel to it and it took 2 hours and a half to build. My partner and I did all the work and we are not very much experienced with this type of projects. Just put a big blanket on the floor and make sure you have all the pieces (one type of screw seems to be missing, but it is inside the bag with the metal handles, so don't freak out!) People complaining about the instructions are being unfair. They are clear enough if you pay attention to how the pieces look in the drawing and which part of the piece is the front and which one the back (they have an arrow pointing the front on the sticker with the letter of the piece). The best approach is not to screw everything all the way when you put it together first. You will notice that it is best to have room for wiggling things around, especially the back panels, which can be a pain in the butt to slide in and keep into place. But if you move them around firmly and then tighten things up, you will have everything into place. And remember that the more pieces you add, the firmer the overall structure. The only bad thing is that the magnet for the doors are not very good and the doors keep opening. A couple of new cabinet magnets are between $6-10 on Amazon. It should be a 10 min. fix. Bottom line: good quality, solid, it can be built in a couple of hours, don't screw everything all the way until you are on step 4 or 5, and get new magnets for the door. Good investment overall!

Sometimes procrastination pays off.
Home Styles 4528-95 Dolly Madison Kitchen Cart, Black Finish Been looking for an island and this one has been on my shopping list for a while, and when the price dropped recently over 30% I decided to pull the trigger. I was a little concerned about some of the reviewers saying they had trouble putting it together tho. Got the package and it had a little shipping damage but I accepted it and hoped it was just the box. It was. The box was really well packaged. Had thick foam all around the product and each panel was wrapped as well. As I started unpacking I was impressed that each item was labeled. When I opened the hardware box each package of screws, bolts and what not were all labeled with exactly what that item was used for. I was impressed. Took everything out of the box and crossed checked with the material list to be sure I had everything, and I did. As a matter of fact, about the hardware, they included one more than what was called for. To me that says a lot! Started the assembly using their instruction book. Couldn't have been plainer. It went together just as it should have. Getting more impressed with this company as I went along. Everything fit and lined up as it should have. I say it took me a little over 2 hours, but I have some experience at cabinetry. Although I think a person that's "handy" should be able to put this together if they take their time. The only things I did have to tweak a bit were the reveal between the doors to get the gaps equal and the top of them aligned. But like most cabinets I've put together, this is common and there is usually some type of adjustment in the hinges themselves. Here there were none so I used a clamp to hold the hinges firmly in place as I 'manualy' adjusted them to get the reveal right. Not recommended unless you know what you're doing though because you can damage the hinges and then you're in trouble. So my one and only criticism would be about the hinges not being adjustable. I overcame that, but most people are not going to want to do that. My overall rating of this product though is excellent. Just really happy with the quality of it, their attention to detail in manufacturing and their instruction for assembly. Any one of those items lacking would have made for a less than pleasant experience. It sounds like I work for them but I don't. Just have bought enough stuff online and been disappointed with the quality of it and also trying to fiqure out instruction translated from some foreign language. :)

Would purchase again and Recommend.
We read every reviewer's opinion of this kitchen island before buying and here is our opinion to save you the time: It comes with 4 casters for each corner but we added 2 standard 2 1/2" swivel casters on the center sides (tip from most helpful critical review) to avoid future center-droop. The instructions were completely understandable. I sorted the pieces, studied each step of the instructions, and it all went together fairly effortlessly. Arrows indicating a specific direction for assembly were clearly identified and each piece was labeled. I assembled the pieces and my husband screwed everything together. He used a screwdriver for the cap bolts and a power screwdriver for the wood screws. He was cautious not to over tighten but we still stripped a cap bolt. All of the pre-drilled holes matched and it would seem that if your assembly isn't, re-read the instructions before proceeding. The hinges on the doors are already in place so we only had to set the door in place. Magnets are pre-installed and gently pull the door to a full close. There is an 1/8" gap between the doors but they are plum and aligned. The storage behind the doors can be left open or divided by a shelf. There are 3 settings from which to pick. We went with the 2nd and I may change it to the 3rd to provide equal space between the bottom and the shelf. The towel holders on each end are hefty thickness, but we could not get ours to hold securely with the cap bolts provided. We're going to Gorilla Glue it. We put a couple of nicks in the pieces during assembly but black acrylic gloss paint solved that (black gloss shoe polish works great if you don't have the paint). We feel that the price of this island combined with the storage space it provides and the elegance it adds to our kitchen, clearly outweigh the negative reviews given. Just remember to sort the pieces according to the steps in the instructions and follow the instructions. Oh, we're in our sixties and this was a no-brainer assembly.

5 years of use later- still amazing!
I purchased this cart in 2016. It sits in our living room and holds all of our kids toys and games, as well as being an area to place things down. 5 years of daily use, heavy building blocks on the shelves, and 3 kids later- I still love it. A few months in, we removed the wheels (it moved around very easily despite its weight), and it’s a very sturdy and stationary cabinet. The only wear the cart shows is on the bottom edge (that sits on the floor), as it has had paint chip off. If I wanted to, a paint pen would fix that. If a door pops off, my five year old can put it back on himself, and the doors are too difficult for my baby to get in, but easy enough to open for the older kids. If I had to buy another, I would in a heartbeat. The top still looks as good as new!

This has manufacturing defects that need to be addressed. Could be great.
For the money, this could be a great little wheeled island. However, there are issues that I should have reported to the seller and just did not because I was so busy with other things. I'm a handy person and have put together a lot of furniture over the years. This went smoothly at first, as for the most part, it assembles correctly and easily. However, once you get to the drawers and the doors, the problems become apparent. They include two same-side drawer pieces, and I had to basically hack the second drawer to make it work. It is not symmetrical, though the extent of the incorrect pieces that went into this drawer are not as visible as I first thought they would be when I realized the manufacturer's error. Additionally, the pre-installed pins that you use to hang the doors are not aligned evenly, which means the doors hang at different heights. It's an annoyance, as this would otherwise actually be a beautiful piece of furniture and super-easy to assemble. The manufacturer needs to be aware that they're including incorrect pieces in this kit (just the drawers) and that they need to look into controlling the quality of the doors (the hardware, specifically). I did not return this. By the time you assemble this and discover the defects, regardless of the ease, you know it's going to be a nightmare to disassemble and repack if you've done a good job assembling it. By the time you encounter the incorrect pieces and manufacturing errors, you're almost done with assembly! I'm writing this so other people are aware. You can make this look good but it won't look perfect. Expect to be confused when you get to the drawers- because yes, they did give you the wrong parts for one of the drawers. If you're even a little bit handy you will find a workaround and the drawer will open and close with a touch more effort after you've got it all worked out. The doors will appear to have been installed with error- only it won't be your error. If they get these issues worked out, it would be a fantastic buy. As of now, I would not recommend this unless you really must have this unit's specs.
