Absolutely love this!
Full disclosure - I've only used this once, but it was with severely overgrown weeds on a large, uneven yard. Yes, it took a long time to finish the job but it was sooooo worth it. As I said, my lard is uneven - not level, holes from rotted tree roots and lots of random rocks. I've broken my lawn mower several times and was tired of paying for repairs. I'd been doing the yard with a weed whacker but that was tricky. My yard often looked like a three year old who'd given himself a haircut. When I discovered this attachment for my weed whacker I was amused. Then the more I thought about it, the more it made sense - weed whackers don't care about rocks or uneven ground. There was a lot of conflicting 'will it fit my model' stuff online but I figured it was worth the gamble. When it arrived I tried to get it to fit with my Black & Decker electric but I couldn't make it fit. The more I looked at it the more I realized it wasn't the whacker itself, it was the debris guard - it was 14 inches and the mower deck requires 12 inches. After a quick look on Amazon for the 12 inch guard and a couple days of waiting, I was able to put the whole thing together and it worked! I believe my whacker is either 900 or 912 model.I plugged my whacker in and gave it a go - perfection! So light, so easy to maneuver, and small so it fit into places my regular mower wouldn't fit. What about the over knee-high weeds? Yes, it did take some back and forth, but it wasn't any more difficult than using a vacuum. In fact, I found that motion to be the most effective when going over the really long, heavy weeds. For the shorter stuff, long lines works fine. And because the mowing deck covers the entire string area, there's no debris getting thrown everywhere and the cut stuff says down - much easier to go back over with a rake or leaf blower/vacuum. And when you do need it in whacker mode, for fence lines and such, you just pop it out of the mower deck and off you go.

Perfect for moderate use on small yards
I'll begin by saying it's my distinct hope that whoever it was at B+D that came up with this idea got a raise, or at least the good parking spot out front, as this is one of those genius ideas that come around every so often. I have a very small yard, and really didn't want to spend money on a traditional lawnmower (not to mention gas, oil, upkeep, etc.). I happened across this when doing some exploratory searches one day and thought it was a great idea, but my older B+D trimmer wasn't listed as a compatible model. However, it "looked" like it might work, and the price was low enough, so I decided to roll the dice and try it. On my trimmer, I had to remove the edger guide (not sure that's the right name; it's the small stiff wire piece that goes on the front for edging), but it popped right out and can be put back on easily. After this step, the deck did indeed fit properly on my older trimmer (I'll try to come back and amend the review when I have that model number in front of me). It worked exactly as intended, and I was able to "mow" very easily--it reminds me more of using a vacuum than a lawnmower due to the weight. Will it do as good of a job as an actual lawnmower? No, but it's not really supposed to; it's meant for smaller amounts of cutting, which it does very well, and then you just press the pedal and you instantly have your trimmer back. All in all, I would highly recommend this, but only if your situation calls for it--those looking for a lawnmower replacement for a larger yard may be disappointed.

The little mower (deck) that could!
Very satisfied with this purchase as we already had a B&D weed-eater/edger and didn’t want to spend a fortune on a new electric mower for our tiny yard (we currently use a reel mower). It kind of feels like you’re using a vacuum cleaner to mow the yard, but you quickly get used to it. It gets a great consistent length and was able to mow our front and back yard on 1 full charge of our 20V battery. I have a feeling that we’ll still have to use our reel mower first if the grass gets long enough with how much rain we’ve been getting. If you typically mow and edge/weed-eat afterwards, do yourself a favor and buy a 40V and more string as well. The only flaw we found was changing the wheel height. It can be a little tricky moving them up and down at first, but overall, very easy to put together as long as you check the model of your weed-eater first!

Works great for small spaces
Perfect for cutting the grass in a small space. And excellent for trimming around flowers and plants.

Very Useful, Simple to Use, and Quite Impressed
I don’t write reviews all that often, except when a product is quite useful and I’m truly impressed with simple it is to make your B & D trimmer that much more useful. Here’s the situation I was trying to address. I have a section of lawn, not too big (50’ by 20’) that’s on a fairly steep slope, with tree roots above the ground in some places. I’ve been mowing this area with a Honda self propelled mower for quite a few years, and it’s quite exhausting, not to mention the concern of potentially damaging my Honda mower if I squarely hit a root. So I already have a B&D LST400. It made the mowing of this area much easier. Attaching the trimmer to the deck was so simple (no need to remove anything on the trimmer), just angle in to place (pretty intuitive, but there is an instruction sheet). “Mowing” with this trimmer/mower was simple, as it’s so light I could “mow” using either hand. I definitely recommend it, since it really enhances the use of your B&D trimmer. Happy “mowing”.
