TacStar4-Shot Remington 870, 1100 And 11-87 (12 Gauge) , Black

I bought this for my Remington 870 Express. It came with all of the tools and parts needed, as well as some pretty clear, detailed instructions.It was fairly easy to push out the two stock pins and insert the longer after-market versions. This 4-shot version leaves plenty of room for the shotgun's slide to go all the way back and forth.The parts feel like some kind of strong plastic or polymer, and they grip the shells very well; not too tight, and not too loose.This is a very practical enhancement to the shotgun for anything from hunting to home defense. I'm happy with mine, and it's happily sitting on my shotgun hugging 4 buckshot shells.(The instructions warn you not to screw this too tightly to the gun, or it may cause some of the internal parts to seize up. Screw it until it's moderately tight; don't crank it as tight as you can. Remember, the parts that occupied the same space before were just straight pins with no threads or bolts, so it should be secure, but not ultra-tight.)

This product already has a lot of ratings, so I'll just chime in to corroborate some of the positive ones. Things to note:The quality of this product is good--it consists of a metal base plate that attaches to your receiver and a durable synthetic shell holder attached to the base plate.It's easy to install (I mounted mine on an 870 marine magnum). It takes minutes, literally. You just use two screws, and you don't need to remove the shell holder to screw the base plate onto the receiver. Leaving the shell holder attached saves time and does not pose any difficulties during installation.The fit is great. It's snug and does not move around.The shells are easy to insert and remove. I've had some other shell holders in the past were it was difficult to insert and remove the shells (BlackHawk being one). That's not the case here--the shells can be inserted and removed smoothly and easily.If you're okay with the price and looking for side saddle, this is a great product that I would recommend.

Great product! This fit my H&R Pardner Pump Protector perfectly! It took all of 2 minutes to install. Although the directions don't mention it, be sure to install the included washers. This will shorten the mounting screws just a touch so that the saddle fits snug against the receiver. The holder is well made and holds the shells with just the right amount of tension but not so much that the shells are hard to remove. I am very pleased with this product. Quality is superb! Also, I have recently discovered how easy it is to shop with Amazon. They have the products that may not be available in my area at a local business but my decision to purchase any product is largely based on the reviews left by other consumers. Just like this product above...numerous other people had reported that it was a perfect fit for their H&R PPP and that was good enough for me. There was no second guessing on my decision to buy. Shipping was super fast too! It traveled from California to SC and arrived in my mailbox in 2 days!!

It's solid and holds the 12 gauge shells nice and snug but not too tight as to slow you down if doing a tactical reload. The bolts were solid. My only gripe would be the fact that the bolt is screwed into the metal plate that holds the shell carrier itself. They should just use a slightly longer bolt with a nut to make sure it is very secure. During installation I used blue loctite on the large bolt but not the smaller bolt as the end is covered by the carrier. I shot over 200 shells of all types from low brass birdshot to magnum loads, slugs and buckshot. The carrier never came loose nor did any of the two bolts back out. I like it much better than the all polymer or velcro style carriers.

Fit great on the 870 and you always need the extra ammo!!!

I was concerned with a few things with this item: ease of installation, durability, external profile, and how it fit the shells. Bottom line, it was great with everything. Simply punch out the trigger assembly pins and the screws go right in and screw into the base plate, making it fit really solid on the side of the receiver. Seriously, it doesn't budge. The fact that it holds 4 shots and not 6 is a good thing. 6 would be wayyyy too many in my opinion. If you need that many, get one of those stock sleeves or a bandolier sling. 4 shells is really the perfect amount. On that note, the shell holders are the perfect median of flexibility and rigidity. The shells slide in and out easily, but don't require an abusive amount of force. Seems like it should last a long time, I'm really pleased.

I've had the Tacstar 6 shotshell sidesaddle on my Remington 870 for years and it worked great. I recently changed the original wood furniture for synthetic and didn't realize the new forend was going to hit the 6 shot and not cycle. The Tacstar 4 shotshell was the perfect remedy for this problem! I'm glad I found that this 4 shot sidesaddle existed and didn't cut down the forend like was suggested.

I’ve gone back and forth on whether to buy this side saddle but I finally pulled the trigger on this - no pun intended. I originally purchased the butt stock shell holder, but really kept going back to this one.It was pretty simple to install and probably took less than 10 minutes to do. It doesn’t come with any instructions, so you may want to look at some instructional videos on YouTube if you’re unsure. Overall, I love it - very sturdy and holds the shells really well.

I used this on a Norinco 870 copy...fits perfectly, looks great!!!
