Sleek Exhaust, Mean Sound...
So every morning when I remote start my Ram and all my wife's pictures start to shake and rattle on the living room wall and my baby wakes up from a dead sleep crying her eyes out... well, I smile. Let's start with the removal of the old exhaust: this is an absolute terrible process even with PB buster and your semi-capable wife helping you. I live in Michigan and it's a 2013 ram, which had undoubtedly started to show signs of rust and wear, so maybe if you live somewhere less abrasive then you'll have an easier time removing the stock muffler. It took at least an hour to get the old one off. It's a 15mm socket (medium to deep size). Installing the new exhaust probably took 10 minutes and everything slid together easily. In reality, once the exhaust settles down from a cold start it isn't that loud at all. I wanted an exhaust that you could hear but not one that make's people look and say "what an A-hole". I think this is that exhaust. At idle it isn't even noticeable, when you step on it, you can hear it. As for the in-cab experience: it sort of reminds me of someone who's driving around with a grizzly bear and pissed off gorilla in the bed of their truck. I don't really care what other people think, I just wanted a nice sounding exhaust for myself, and this flowmaster provides just that. If you want a real mean sound I would recommend going with the full cat-back outlaw system with the resonaters deleted. I was thinking my wife wouldn't even want to drive the truck after I put this on--which was my hope--but she said it wasn't that bad, and I think she enjoys driving it as much as me. I don't really notice any "drone" per se, but it is loud at 70mph cruising speed, but what do you expect; it's tolerable though.

Pretty nice muffler...
Super nice quality. I'm glad I picked this over the "American Thunder". This really isn't that loud, but I'm a "hotrodder". By just switching the muffler, I mean you still have the catalytic converters and the resonators. They are not mufflers per se, but do muffle the exhaust also. If an exhaust system made less sound then this, there would be no reason to even change anything (in my opinion), just leave the exhaust stock. Everything was pretty much a perfect fit, no twisting or "adjusting", just seemed to work pretty nice. Sounds great. Initially my plan was to not destroy the stock muffler in case I wanted to put it back on for some reason. That plan went pretty well right up until the end. I loosened the 3 original band clamps and the pipes came loose okay. But getting the getting the stock muffler all the way out didn't seem to work that great. I got the front pipe slid out, but couldn't get the back 2 (tail pipes) slid back far enough to come out. I wrestled with them for a bit before getting disgusted and just sawing the back two nipples off of the stock muffler. It was just hard to get any leverage to wrestle the back pipes. Maybe if I would have had a helper and some patience, I would have salvaged it, but it just didn't go that way. Overall, really happy with everything... !!

2018 Ram 1500 Sport Night Edition
I was heavily debating getting the Carven Competitor exhaust instead of Flowmaster Outlaw. But for $272 shipped to Alaska off Amazon and saving $130+, I decided to go with the Outlaw. First off, the videos on YouTube DO NOT do this exhaust justice! It sounds so much better in person. Very happy with this exhaust. Second, the stock exhaust has cut outs on the inlet and outlet pipes that line up with indexing points and the tailpipes and where the exhaust comes down from the engine. Flowmaster has these same cutouts to ensure a proper fit, Carven does not have these cutouts. Third, it was a very simple install once you figure out how to wiggle the driver side tailpipe out (hint: wiggle it from the back by the bumper) the passenger side tailpipe is very simple to wiggle out (also use a lubricant like WD-40 on the rubber brackets so they move freely). Took me all but an hour to install. No drone, not excessively loud until you step on it, great deep gnarly sound. A lot of people say the clamps that come with it are garbage and create exhaust leaks, I have not had that issue. I did buy a set of Walker and Dynomax Lap Clamps just in case. Can’t go wrong with this exhaust for $272.

Great to wake up the hemi!
The sound is amazing when on the gas! Deep, throaty growl! But when the mds kicks in (ram goes into 4 cyl mode) there is some drone. The clamps are not good, I have 2 small exhaust leaks at the 2.25 ports. Gonna have to do till I can get better clamps. But as far as the muffler goes...it is made with quality in mind. And the fitment is great. The sound is great! (Except for mds, look up YouTube vid to see how to turn off mds). Mine came in black, which I like cause my truck is all black...but it wouldn't have mattered either way cause the muffler is under the truck. Just a bonus it was black. Some reviewers said they got a aluminized muffler. Flowmaster also enclosed a sticker sheet with the muffler! Another bonus cause I like to put those kinds of stickers on my tool chest and tool boxes. So bottom line: Good fitment Good sound Good price Get new clamps though

I bought this muffler for my 2012 Ram. I was originally concerned that it would be too loud. I live in the suburbs and have a newborn daughter so I was hesitant to buy it. I must have watched a million youtube videos on the outlaw and loved the deep rumble. So I took a chance and picked one up. It is a louder than stock but not nearly as loud as having it straight piped. Their is a small amount of interior drone but it's nothing you can't get used too. It actually puts my daughter to sleep most of the time. As long as you don't drive like a teenager reving the engine or flooring it , I think it is a good muffler for anyone looking for a more aggressive tone and better performance. I've noticed a drop in my fuel consumption and a better throttle response. However on the highway you will be like a kid in a candy store when getting on the gas. When you initially start it the volume is high but it settles quickly. On a side note the clamps are terrible when you install them as the instructions dictate or any other way. I bought band clamps for it. It's an extra $50.00 but worth it. They cover a larger surface area of the pipe and eliminate any exhaust leaks.

This exhaust is great. Installed today. Basically loud when you cold start but it is brief, and then on idle its a low not too loud rumble. You can leave your driveway and not piss off the neighbors if you drive slowly. When you hid 2k-3k rpm youll hear it a little in the cab but nothing too drastic, but when you floor it wow its loud haha 10/10 so far. Had a hard time installing due to the factory muffler being over welded to the hanger which caused it to fuse the muffler to the exhaust pipe. So be prepared for that, was harder to take the OEM muffler off compared to slapping this one on. Super simple and I did it on just a set of ramps in the driveway. Everything was included. I really recommend this muffler.

This is a more aggressive sounding muffler and can see why its called the "Outlaw". Only problem i had was getting the stock muffler off. New one went on REALLY easy, only advice i can give is i adjusted my dual tail pipe flushness to my rear bumper before securing and tightening anything down.

Not as loud As I thought it would be ( 2013 Ram ) Install was easy Maybe I'm missing something but Even friends say 40 series sounds a little more aggressive. very very Quiet on idle
