The New Pastor's Handbook: Help and Encouragement for the First Years of Ministry Paperback – October 6, 2015

I am a new pastor I found this book a very helpful resource. It is a very easy read. It is was easy to understand. Glad I read it.

This is a phenomenal book. After 45 years in ministry I can say it's incredulous how this gentleman wrote such a comprehensive and succinct manual for a pastor's personal and public ministry. There is no filler here. Chapters are terse and to the point, insightful not dry or uninteresting. I am thinking of bringing mine along inside my Bible case with my Bible for casual re-reading or devotional use. This is a winner and I am pleased there is such a book available. It should be read by literally everyone in pastoral ministry as soon as possible.

This is a great book. I gave it four stars, only because I'm stingy with my five stars. There are roughly 52 chapters, which makes it convenient for creating a weekly habit of reading a chapter each week. The chapters are short, practical, and rich. The subtitle is misleading, though. It says it is help and encouragement for the first years of ministry. I would wager you will find this book helpful and encouraging for the first forty years of ministry.

This book is a brief treasure trove of wisdom for all pastors, especially new ones. The chapters are very concise and can be read in 5 minutes for quick encouragement. I can’t recommend this work enough. I wish I had it when I started serving as a pastor years ago.

Short, to the point chapters, that tackle some of the most pressing issues that new pastors face, but also offering wonderful reminders to those who have been serving in the ministry for any length of time

This book is a great introduction to pastoral ministry. Each of the chapter topics could be at least a book on its own. The author does a great job in sticking to the main points and highlighting the most important points. This book is very readable and very convicting!

A helpful book for the seasoned pastor with great reminders of what's important or the new pastor learning the ropes of pastoral ministry.

Just got it today and have read over half of it! This book covers a wide range of issues that are incredibly necessary. I just recently started my first full time pastorate and this book is full of advice that immediately applied to me! Would definitely recommend this book to everyone, especially those like me who are just getting started in ministry.

This has been a very helpful reminder in how to serve the Lord in pastoral ministry in a God serving manner. Helopoulous humble example poke, proded and encouraged me. I will definitely need to read this again and again

A very practical guide for those first few years in the pastorate. A great help in navigating the obstacles that arise and in establishing oneself as an undershepherd who listens well to sheep and Shepherd.

The book offers quite helpful advice for new pastors. Just having started my first pastorate I am learning quite a bit from it. The fact that it is practical advice, too, makes it very applicable even in small portions. The chapters are very short so even on a tight schedule you can squeeze in a chapter or two a day and keep digesting what you learned over time.

I appreciated all the insights, encouragement and reinforcements. Recommended.

Excellent resource, chapters are bit-size and packed with golden nuggets! A really good read indeed.
