I expected more
I bought this backpack wanting to buy a high-quality item that would last years. I spent more on this than on your average backpack with the expectation I would get more life out of the item. You can imagine my disappointment when only two to three months into ownership, with EXTREMELY light use, I already began to see the internal fabric tearing away, as depicted in the photo. Unfortunately, I am outside the return window and therefore have no recourse other than to leave this review.TLDR: Backpack is not worth the cost. Buyer beware.

Best Backpack I've Ever Had
Awesome backpack. I used to only spend $20-30 on my backpacks but this was worth the extra cash. It keeps my laptop and books dry in the rain. Also, it is a huge backpack. I can basically fit anything I need to. I love this backpack for its looks, size, and adaptability. 10/10.

The NorthFace Borealis backpack
This is a very nice backpack, but really much heavier than I expected without added contents. The wide and rigid shoulder straps are cut to fit the body, but are difficult to adjust and very uncomfortable. The material is clearly made for rugged use and weather proof. Pockets are very handy, and the padded area for a smaller laptop or iPad is what made me order. Overall, the size is just too large for everyday use, and the weight is just too heavy, with even minimal contents.

Spacious, Strong, and Resilient
This item shipped very fast, and was very safe in its packaging. Upon opening the package, I was very happy to see the backpack was delivered safely. Now onto the backpack itself. The large, main pocket is VERY spacious, it is able to fit a 15" laptop without issue in the sleeve, as well as enough space to fit a full gaming system. The secondary pocket has many different pockets perfect for different school supplies and storage. it also includes a medium sized felt pocket for a tablet, and a small felt pocket for a phone. The final pocket is lined in felt to keep sunglasses or any other sensitive item safe. I love the exterior of the bag because the material allows it to be water resistant, which works perfectly when walking between buildings on a rainy day. It also includes a chest strap, waist strap, and side straps which allows the bag to perfectly fit your body for skateboarding, biking, rock climbing, or any other physical activity. This bag is perfect for any active, outgoing, college student. Its also very reliable and resilient. That is why I rated this product five stars.

Good for Money
Purchased this backpack for school. The major thing that drew me in was the carrying comfort and amount of space inside. This proves helpful in carrying my school uniform, shoes, stethoscope, laptop, BP cuff, binders, and not to mention, a plethora of textbooks!I've not had it for long enough to speak of its lasting durability, but I do expect great things, and will update! If this book bag is able to withstand all that pressure, I'll purchase again and again. Will update

Functions well as day-pack, but don't expect much more than that.
I use this bag for gym trips, occasional hiking trips, and as a bag for going to work (lunch, protein shakes, workout clothes, etc). Bottom line: I'm not super impressed; wish I would have gone with another bag. Feels like the cons heartily outweight the pros.PROS:- Comfortable to wear during normal activities- Sternum strap has a whistle for emergencies- Bag has a hip-strap to take off the weight from your shoulders/back- Thick padding on shoulder straps makes it so it doesn't wear you out physically and the 'aerodynamic' back-padding lets your back breathe during activities- Nice, fleece-lined front upper pocket is the perfect size for a smartphone + wallet (see CONS for water resistance)CONS:- Hip-strap has no padding - just nylon webbing. Can get pretty uncomfortable with heavier packs- Bag is barely water resistant; 15 minutes of light Pacific NW rain and everything in all three compartments were wet or damp at the very least- Mesh bottle pockets on the sides are not durable; after about two weeks of somewhat-daily usage, mine is already rippingAnd my biggest and final complaint: the bag is designed strangely, the main compartment 'seems' like you have a lot of room, until you actually fill it up. I had a lot of trouble putting a pair of combat boots + socks in the main compartment. It does not have stretching side-panels, so there isn't much room for "a little extra". If you maximize the main compartment, expect to not be able to reach things that fall down into the bottom of the 2nd compartment. This odd design really throws off the whole pack, as I find myself struggling to reach all the way down into the 2nd compartment when I have 75% of the main area full. Frequently I'll give up because of how frustrating it is.

Looks great and feels even better
To the right in the picture is the bag that I just bought; the bag on the left I have owned for years - it’s the Jester II.The new bag - the Borealis - is a lot tougher, and provides more room for storage. Just what I was looking for

Expected Quality, fit 15” Dell G3 laptop.
This thing is awesome. Used for school. Easily fits everything.A lot of the reviews and research I did had me worried that I would have less room than the Recon. Specifically the laptop storage section.I’m able to carry some folders filled with paper work, binder, basic school supplies, small planner, mouse, (A large) laptop charger, and my pride & joy...my 15” Dell G3. I’m a bit over protective of the laptop, especially since the back pack is going to be tossed around with the added weight of books and binders, so because of that I wanted to be able to put the laptop in its own protective case then fit it in to the dedicated section of the backpack. I was concerned if the laptop would even fit at all, not to mention once put in to a case. This was the first thing I tested when I received it and it passed with flying colors. Laptop fits with ease on its own and is snug but not overly tight when I put it in a case and then in to the laptop section. So this was already a win for me at that point.I liked the style/look of this one over recon as well. Don’t know if I’ll ever actually use the bungee straps but I do like the option to use them over an extra storage pouch.

The straps are comfortable. The backpack itself is a decent size
The straps are comfortable. The backpack itself is a decent size. The side pockets are large enough to hold water bottles without them falling out easily. Overall quality of the backpack feels good. The main compartment has a laptop sleeve, which gives the backpack structure and so it will always be flat against your back. However, the main compartments sits lower than the others, which you'll need to be mindful of when putting the backpack down with anything fragile inside. It's not a huge problem, but perhaps North Face could have incorporated something into the bottom of the backpack.

Quality Backpack - What one would expect from North Face.
A solid built backpack well worth paying the extra for. The fabric feels robust and likely to last for a long time. The design is spot on and the layout with the various pockets inside provide plenty of options. I recently used it on a trip to London and carried an slr camera, an iPad and a change of clothing together with various affiliated bits and bobs. There was plenty of space and it was comfortable to carry.

So far, so GOOD!
Just arrived today - I'm very impressed - excellent quality - more internal room than I expected - pockets galore - great space for your laptop - key chain (made from plastic and fabric) - with extra ties you can keep your bag secure - nice colour of blue (the photo doesn't do it justice) - plenty of padding, comfortable straps - and enough room at the back for ventilation - so I'm scoring it 10/10

Great bag for urban nomads
It has been my go to backpack ever since I bought it. Padded laptop compartment and the soft paddings for your back allows you to carry it for longer period of time before you feel the sore. Not entirely waterproof but keeps rain out quite well. Great for travelling, or going to work. Only downside would be it doesn't stand unless its leaned onto something which could be quite annoying sometimes. But still the best bag I owned.

Solid protective bag with many pockets.
Works well at the primary task of transportation of a laptop from point a to b in a reasonably unobtrusive and secure way. Only minor quibble is the shape of the back "shell" makes the bag impossible to stand on the floor, and the fact that the laptop accessory pockets are accessed via a totally different zip than the laptop itself. Also, quite expensive.

Very very good
Been using it for 6 months: this backpack is highly resistant, enough pockets for everything you might need, has a lot of space, but if you are not using it with the side straps you can make it look thin and sleek. Fits a 15" laptop easily and with plenty of space for documents and such. The only thing is the black one seems to change color overtime, because of sun exposure. But other than that it is an awesome backpack and will highly recommend it.

Excellent carry on and general day sack
Good for carry on baggage - nice touches like foam type padding for tablets/pads/laptops. Adequate straps for carrying (padding would have made them even more comfortable but possible at the expense of adding extra weight). But the chest strap is a really useful addition in providing a stable balanced carry. Zips etc seem very good quality - time will tell. Maybe not the best for carrying light but bulky items but a very neat piece of kit. I can see this becoming a much used sack

Durable and comfortable
I like this bag so far, much better than my previous one. i take it to office everyday. Sometimes i do carry two laptops with chargers as the 2 most heavy objects but don’t feel that weight on my shoulders. This was the important point for me to choose this bag from my earlier brand. I walk a lot and climb stairs so the weight and comfort on the shoulders and back mattered most. Interistingly, the bag holds on to its shape even if you fill the pockets with stuff.

Very good quality
Very well made bag, it has coped with my husbands usage for a year now and still going strong. Normally need to replace bags regularly but this still looks like new. Well worth the money

A great rucksack - very pleased
Very pleased with this item. The straps are comfortable and supportive, which I require for my daily commute to work. There are a plethora of pockets, starting with the large compartment for my laptop which keeps it secure. The middle pocket is spacious for all manner of items. The front pockets holds my iPad and various smaller secure items.

Fantastic in every way
Fantastic in every way! Note these annoyances: 1. Due to slant bottom it simply cannot stand up straight, even when leaving on a vertical wall. 2. The main compartment does NOT open fully. It only opens about 3/4 of the way to the bottom! 3. Snapping straps in place, is too easy to painfully pinch fingers when fastening.

Strap came off at seam
I like the quality of North Face bags in general which is why I bought this one. In general the bag seemed well made but one of the carry straps started to detach at the seams. Perhaps this was a one off but it leaves a bad aftertaste. I still like the Borealis but will be very wary next time!

Calidad y versatilidad
