This was good.
3 1/2 starsI have read a few of Shalini Boland's books and do enjoy them. Some more than others. This book was good. Not one on the tops ones, but good.Tia, Fiona and Kelly have been friends since they were kids. Tia is happily married with 2 small children. Kelly is a widow with 2 almost teenage boys and Fiona is married and is a successfully interior designer. They all seem to have perfect lives and are happy, until things start to happen that could tear their lives apart. One day on the way home from school Tia's 5 year old daughter is quiet and sullen. When Tia finally gets her to tell her what is wrong she is taken aback. "Mommy why did you kill someone?" It seems some boys at her school are saying this. But once she assures her daughter those boys were just being mean, Tia thinks all is fine. Until she receives photos in the mail that could tear her marriage apart. Why would some one be doing this to her?Fiona's business is going great, until one day tax auditors show up. Now they are going through all her files and Fiona is afraid she could lose it all.It has been a year since Kelly's husband died, but she and her boys are finally getting back to normal. That is until the day Kelly helps a woman that shows up at her house and asks for her help. Why is someone trying to destroy these woman? The book is told from the POV of Tia, Fiona and Kelly. With each of their chapters we get to see into their lives and what each is going through with what is happening to them. And I did like getting all their perspectives. I did figure one thing out, and then closer to the end figured out who was behind it all. There was one thing that left me a bit confused, but don't want to say what it was to spoil anything. And while I did enjoy the book overall. It was not a page turner for me. And while I did like getting into the lives of the characters, they did have me shaking my head at times on how stupid they were (especially at the end). Whenever a character in a book is keeping something from a loved one, I am always like "OMG just tell them" but then I think well, that would make for a short book huh. lolAll in all, this was good and I do look forward to reading what the author has next.

Not As Thrilling As Her Other Books But Still a Great Read!
Last year, I read my first Shalini Boland book. When I finished, I immediately bought all of her other books, one after the other and devoured them. She was immediately added to my list of 'must-read' authors where she remains to this day.As soon as I bought One of Us Is Lying, I read it in one sitting. Someone has their sights set on ruining the lives of three friends: Kelly, Fiona and Tia. Each woman has her life turned upside down by someone who is hell-bent on causing hurt and pain. Will they make it out OK in the end? You'll have to read to find out!I VERY much enjoyed this book and I"m so very glad I bought and read it. However, I didn't have any 'I didn't see that coming!' moments as I do with all of her other books nor did I think the promised 'twist' was much of a twist.. Quite honestly, it was predictable. Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed by those two things but I still VERY much enjoyed One Of Us Is Lying. It just wasn't my favorite Shalini Boland book. Still, a great read that I absolutely recommend!

A Smooth Read
I wasn’t as captivated by this book as precious books by this author. It was a slow read about three girl friends. It had a lot of mystery but not really any suspense. It was more about a person’s revenge on the three girls because of something in the past.

nothing good comes easy
That’s the ending moral to this story. It revolves around three lifelong friends…all three are receiving mysterious texts on their phones and strange incidents in their lives. This book will definitely take you on a roller coaster ride.

Good enough
Took me awhile. I predicted the ending. I was surprised by the Nathan Fiona thing, but not too much. Good book. Love this author.

Awesome Read
Awesome Read! Intrigue, secrets and lies between 3 life-long friends, for the most part? I guess who the real antagonist was a little over way through the boot BUT it did not stop me from being completely engaged in TBE story. @ Shaking Boland Thanks for all the great stories.

this is rubbish
incoherent writing, poor grammar (needs an editor), implausible and very boring plot , poorly drawn and stereotypical characters. what mother lets a total stranger stay alone in her house? such a premise is ridiculous, but that's the bedrock of the 'book'........and what interior designer does not have an accountant?...another bedrock of the plotand who can actually make schoolchildren believe the most weird rumours about their parents? or the other children communicate them?I don't understand how this gets published unless via personal money

Honest review
My third time reading one of Shalini Boland's books and just as enjoyable as the other two. The story centres around Fiona, Tia and Kelly, one of whom was assaulted as a student and now someone is out for revenge. It starts slowly but soon changes pace and I was torn between wanting to see what happened and not wanting the book to finish.

Loved it!
Tia is walking home with her children, along the lakeside of their quiet, safe town, when she realises something is wrong with her five-year-old daughter, Rosie. She seems troubled, not at all her usual happy self. But when Tia finally coaxes Rosie to open up, she wishes she hadn’t. Because her sweet daughter asks a question Tia never thought she’d hear.‘Why did you kill someone?’Tia knows how rumours spread around her small town. She just can’t understand who would have shared such a horrible story. Or why.It can’t have anything to do with what happened. Only her two best friends really remember that…Tia thought she could trust Fiona and Kelly with her life. They’ve been through so much together. But when she’s sent photos of herself that could tear her whole world apart, she starts to wonder. Someone is determined to punish her. But who? And will her friends stand by her, or will the past destroy all of their lives? One of us is Lying is about Tia, Kelly and Fiona, they've been best friends since school and throughout their adult lives, and have always been there for each other, but when strange things start happening to each of them, who will they turn to and do they trust each other enough to get through it unscathed and with their friendship intact? Someone knows something about them and wants to make them pay! This story is told from the perspective of all three main characters, with snippets of an unknown person, is it one of the three or someone else from their past? Shalini Boland's books are so well written, fast paced and full of twists and one of only a few authors that I will read without even looking at the blurb first because I know, no matter what, that I will be completely lost in the story within the first few pages, and this one was no exception. It's a rollercoaster ride from start to finish and quite often had me holding my breath at many of the tense moments throughout. If you like a book that will reel you in quickly and keep you hooked, then look no further, this is one for you.

Brilliant edge of your seat must read book
Shalini Boland has a writing style that carries you away into the story and characters portrayed on the page. It’s so easy to visualise the settings and situations, to imagine the characters faces and expressions, as with each chapter you delve deeper into the lives of the people within the book.I hate to give away plots in my reviews as I want every reader to be able to experience the same sharp intakes of breath or heart stopping moments that you experience whilst embroiled in the pages of a story.I’ve read all of Shalini Bolands recent books and enjoyed them so much I’ve started on her older titles. If like me you shout at the tv when the baddie has the upper hand, tell them to leave the house, don’t go upstairs .... and so on. Then you will never be disappointed with a book from this wonderful writer.
