Merro Anchovy Fillets in Sunflower Oil - 24oz…

Yes, my photo shows an empty jar :)We loved them so much they literally fled out of my fridge.I’ve read some complaints and all I can say is that they either know little about anchovies or had really bad luck.I love the wide opening of this jar as well as it makes it easy and convenient to enjoy these anchovies and I can repurpose it.Yes these anchovies are regular sized and are not luxury gourmet quality but if you care about taste and quality at a very reasonable price just grab them!

Ahoy! Where are the anchovies? Half the jar is empty and the oil is cloudy. Looked like the jar was opened and someone ate from it because there are barely enough chovies to stand up like what's shown in the photo, plus it's all cloudy like when you have bacteria growing in something. There is no seal on the jar so I suspect anything could have happened to its contents. The large glass jar itself is nice though.

As you can see in the photo, this unopened jar has a lot of space which is why a 4 star review.. The filets themselves are solid and wonderful. I also like and reuse the jar. I buy these often but wish there was more anchovies.

Some of the best quality anchovies available. Larger than you typically see in the US, meaty, in non-solidifying oil, and not too salty.

Should have viewed pictures more closely. Not in Pure olive oil as the header presents.It does however state on the pic of the jar it is in sunflower oil which is PUFTA oil I prefer not to consume.Flavor is ok. They seem a little less potent flavor and salt wise then the Cento cans I usually buy at TJ's.They are also alot softer since they are floating around in the oil instead of packed tightly.I wonder if the weight includes the oil??? Doesn't seem to as many filets as other jars that are packed tight.Great container!Maybe I will just pour out the sunflower oil oil and replace it with some OOVO and weigh them in the process!Update:Poured off oil and weighed them. We ARE paying for the oil!Came out to 542g with oil and 292g without (not perfect, still a litttle oil on them and I ate a few previously).Filled jar back up with OOVO and the smell is much better! Going to let them sit for awhile and them test the flavor.YMVUpdate:Taste is much better with olive oil replacement 2 stars added. Added to an avocado toast with duck egg on sourdough bread and it was a whole other world of flavor. I am enjoying the more subtle flavor than from the canned ones.

Item sold as being in "pure olive oil". Item is in sunflower oil. And, the fish bait only fills about half the bottle, and the rest is cloudy oil. And, much of the bait was broken up. Do not recommend.

Disappointed with the soft texture of fillets

These are the best anchovies! We've bought merro anchovies for quite a while, but the large jar was a revelation. The anchovies are much bigger, firmer, and meatier. Like each filet is twice as big as the ones in the smaller jars. We were pleasantly surprised. Great for all your anchovy needs!
