It’s sturdy, I’ll give it that but it gets difficult to spin after a while. It’s not smooth and very difficult to get a good rhythm going. Even after applying lubricant to the moving parts, it didn’t last very long. The wooden piece with the turning handle warps and kinda cants to the side, which in turn leaves me with a crazy looking ball of yarn. If you need a good arm workout, by all means go for it but I don’t recommend this. The plastic one works just fine.

I’ve turned 16 skeins of acrylic yarn into center pull yarn cakes (it doesn’t actually make “balls”) over the course of four movies!!!!!

It was very substantial compared to the plastic model I’ve used for years. It is a joy to use.

I was hoping for a quality, non plastic product. Instead, I got a product that did not work well. It does not clamp well to a table and is very wobbly. Then it fell apart in the middle of winding a sweater worth of yarn. I tried to repair it, it wasn’t possible. When I tried to make a refund I was given a return label to print requiring me to pay for shipping to India. When I received the product it was not shipped from India. I tried to settle this with the seller, they will not send me a paid return label or refund anything until I send it back. My original review has been deleted.

Completely worthless and made a HUGE mess of my yarn.
