Perfect Monitor
I did not know what to expect as far as quality when buying this Dell monitor for my repair desk. What a nice monitor. It has a very sharp 1080p picture using both the DVI and DP cables. No dead pixel. Perfect for my needs.

Looks like this is not the WIDESCREEN version of the Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23-inch Monitor -- DELL made a mistake in the product title in this advertisement. The price looked too good!!!

looked great. Turned it on
Arrived repackaged, took it out of the box, looked great. Turned it on, work great. Saved a bunch of $$$ on a scratch and dent. Now I have twins in the desk.

A fantastic monitor
I purchase 2 and used a Matrox DualHead2Go to set them up to work with my MacBook Pro. I now have a ton of screen realestate to get work done. The quality of the picture is fantastic for design work.

Disappointed
Amazon is selling Rev A00 which is known to have a "yellow tint" issue which can't be properly adjusted by settings (just search for it). This is my second U2312HM so the difference in color is very noticeable.I requested a replacement but I received Rev A00 again and it still has yellow tint. The only reason I ordered this discontinued model was because I wanted a perfect dual monitor setup. When I see left, I see perfectly balanced white and when I see right, I see ... yellowish white.I don't know what to do now. I'm just so disappointed.

buen precio y gran monitor

Assolutamente consigliato.

Great product
Having recently purchased a new gaming pc I spent a considerable amount of time looking around for a suitable monitor that would fit my needs. Having read countless reviews of various models at differing prices I finally settled on the U2312HM and I am certainly happy with my choice. As stated the primary purpose of this monitor was to game on and it definitely stands up in that regard. I am no pro gamer but personally cannot detect any input lag on this monitor whatsoever and have had no problems with ghosting either. This is remarkable given the fact that this is a (very affordable) IPS monitor which usually have much slower input times than similar TN models. Also given the fact that it's an IPS monitor the viewing angles are great (to the point of being a non-issue) and this coupled with the very adjustable stand (where you can change the screen's height, orientation and direction) mean you can set it up to perfectly fit your needs. The picture quality itself is fantastic although I have to temper my enthusiasm a little as this was an upgrade from an old 15.4' laptop so naturally it was always going to be considerably better! Games like Far Cry 3 and Dishonored look and play beautifully on this screen with all the settings maxed out and watching youtube content in 1080p is an absolute joy. Surprisingly out of the box the default colour settings are actually rather good once you've sorted out the brightness settings (more on that in a minute). As always if you were after perfection the tools are out there to calibrate the colours to be more accurate but aside from wishing the blacks were just a little darker the colour and picture quality out of the box are great. As has been mentioned by others the default brightness setting on this monitor is very bright indeed but again can be adjusted to suit your needs (I currently have brightness at 20 and contrast at 75). Having said that if you were to be using this monitor in the dark a lot without any other light sources, even on the lowest brightness setting the screen can still be uncomfortably bright in these conditions and would be something to bear in mind. For general use (even with just a nearby lamp on) the brightness shouldn't be an issue once toned down a bit.The accompanying CD contains drivers which allow advanced power saving settings that can dim the monitor when the computer enters screensaver mode, but it should be noted that out of the box the monitor will automatically go into standby if it detects no input from the computer (i.e. when shutting down) which is nice.In terms of connections the list is fairly standard except this monitor lacks a HDMI port. Not an issue for myself as I always planned on using DVI and you can always use an adaptor in order to use a HDMI cable but something worth bearing in mind. Also worth remembering (though not all that unusual) is that the monitor doesn't have built in speakers. On a more postive note it does have a 4 port USB 2.0 hub built in, with two ports located on the left side of the screen and a further two located on the back along with the rest of the connections. Again not a function I utilise myself but could certainly see how it could be useful. Finally whilst I wouldn't wish to speak for others, I have had no problems with uneven colours or lighting across the screen and would be inclined to say that those experiencing such issues may possibly have faulty units.Having done a considerable amount of research before purchasing I can say with confidence that this monitor really does represent great value for money. The only real cons I could levy at it would be the somewhat bright screen even on lowest settings and possibly the black depth and contrast ratio. However, these are very small concerns and on a monitor of this price the great picture, non-existant input lag and ghosting as well as the dell brand and support mean that it is well worth your money.

Faulty, no warranty service number
UPDATE: Owned the monitor for just less than 1.5 years, and it has developed a fault. The image now has horizontal lines running through it and developed a strange tint towards the left side of the screen. The monitor never came with a Service number so I can't even check if it's under warranty. A monitor at this price level should not be break so easily. As an IPS monitor, it suffers from a back-light which leaves light bleeding in at the edges. This is especially noticeable when watching dark movies in a dark room. That aside, I reckon this is one of the best IPS monitors on the market. The picture quality is actually as the name suggestions is nice and sharp, and the colours are very vibrant when using it on the 'Standard' and 'Gaming' preset modes. The 'Movie' mode is ideal for watching movies, and the 'Text' mode is great when you are browsing the internet, so that your eyes aren't strained by the bright whites prevalent on most websites.I've used this monitor in all situations, from web browsing to programming to gaming. It's a monitor that is good at everything. I bought it primarily with gaming in mind, and at least as far as I've read the monitor has really good response times and little input lag. I couldn't possibly measure that myself, and I'm not sure if I would actually notice much difference, but I can say that gaming with this screen has been perfect, even in fast-paced shooters like Battlefield 4.Arguably, one of the greatest strengths of this monitor isn't the picture quality, but it's the stand it sits on. The stand is fully adjustable, you can swivel the screen around in all directions and you can also rotate it around to a portrait mode. You can also adjust the height the monitor sits at with much ease. This is a crucial feature but for some reason is forgotten on many monitors.I've never ever actually owned a monitor before for which you can adjust the height it sits on, meaning I've had to place books and boxes underneath the screen to place the monitor at a suitable height, or by adjusting the seat I sit on.Another plus point for its practicality is the two USB ports which sit on the side of the monitor. This is really convenient if you have lots of things plugged in, or for when you need to stick in a USB stick or charge a device without having to fiddle around with your computer case, which in some cases might be on the ground or under a desk. The monitor also has plenty of inputs - VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. This monitor comes very close to being a 5 star monitor, and perhaps it should be considering the reasonable price. I'm holding back simply because I believe there are superior monitors on the market (although probably more expensive).
