Great Hold, Feels a Bit Greasy
This is the best hair dressing I've found. The stuff stays put for days. It feels greasy but nowhere like Vaseline. And it has tremendous hold and helps keep my scalp from drying out. It's a one of a kind formula that requires Dawn to help emulsify it. It has an old smell of 50's pomade and I can see why someone would buy for the nostalgia. But, I've used baby oil, carrot oils, Argan oil with and without silicone, vegetable oils, and nothing comes close. I used to enjoy Paul Mitchell Wax Works, but even that will dissipate in a little rain shower. This stays put and does the job with just a little greasy feel. I really like it.

Mom's favorite!
This is my Mom's favorite hair dressing. She has been using it for years. Highly recommended. Easy to use. She has a soft, silky texture of hair.

Good stuff!
I rarely write reviews but this stuff is great. I wanted a better hold on my hair and this was it. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because I don’t like the residue left over on your hands. You’ll need a bar of soap and a good wash to get it off, but it’s worth it. Smells good, works great!

Wish it was easier to find this stuff in the states..
As far as middle-of-the-road pomades go, this one is a real winner.. Apparently from the late 19th century, It's not too stiff, it's easy to get through the hair, and it has pretty decent hold (not like murrays or the red dax but good for my needs - I have generally straight hair with tons of cowlicks and sweeps). The shine is decent, not extraordinary. It is said that Elvis used this stuff but frankly it doesn't really produce that much shine (which I was expecting based on that one fact).. No problemo for me though, I have plenty of light pomades and hair dressings which could fill that in, if needed. Frankly it's pretty good on it's own. The smell is interesting: Coconut, Vanilla, cinnamon?! something spicy, at least. Honestly it vaguely smells like a tres leches cake or something.. Whatever it is, it's fairly subtle. As with many medium hold (and the hard stuff) pomades, it's still a bit tricky to get this out in the shower, but if you're here reading this then that's probably what you want in a product like this anyway, so stay greasy! Anyway, this stuff is a real classic and if it were easier to get ahold of, I would use it all the time.

Great stuff!
I like several of the older hair products for a number of reasons: they're usually affordable, they have fewer ingredients, and they don't leave your hair hard and crispy. Black and White is one of my favorites. For context, my hair is thick, wavy, and coarse and has a mind of its own. I don't do anything spectacular with it -- typical contour haircut, short on sides and a bit longer on top. I know a lot of folks use B & W for pomps and slickbacks, but I was just looking for something to give my hair a bit of control and texture without it looking like a helmet. This stuff works perfectly and takes very little to get the job done. Very, very little. It smells great -- sorta coconut-y but not too strong at all unless you're laying it on thick. And it's a large 7-ounce container so I expect it to last a while. All in all, it's a great pomade and is now my go-to hair goop. And despite having to order it from England, it arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Would definitely order it again!

Doesn't let you down (but sticks around longer than needed)
I decided to give this a try, as my hair is nearly impossible to tame with gel or mousse. I remember reading other reviews that this washes out completely, but for me it does not.Scent: The first day is great. The scent is the best combination of mineral oil and basic candle wax. For me, the second day isn't as pleasant, but I also have snakes, so it's likely the scents combined in an unfavorable way.Hold: My hair didn't budge at all once I smoothed it down, other than what my visor displaced. Very little transferred to my brush, unlike Magik & Royal Crown.Texture: The texture of Black & White is softer than Magik (nearly a solid Vaseline) but thicker than Royal Crown. Once worked into your hair, it has a slightly diffused shine.I might buy this again, but time will tell. I'm new to pomade, and my hair becomes more unruly as I get between "barely able to wear a hat" to when I can finally tie it all up.

The best pomade you’ll find
I’m very particular about what hygienic products I use. I experiment with different products and am willing to pay however much necessary to get the best. I’m especially particular about my hair and skin. When it comes to pomade, it just so happens that the best product also has the best price. I’ve been using Black and White for over two years now there’s no chance I’ll ever use anything else. I’ve experimented with a lot of hair products to find the perfect one (seriously, a lot!). I’ve tried anywhere from Crew to Got 2b to Suavecito and many others and none of them compare to Black and White. Black and White has the perfect combination of actually holding your hair without getting it too hard or oily. Can be difficult to get completely out when you wash your hair, but only if you’re using a crappy 2-in-1 shampoo. Don’t be skeptical of the low price, Black and White is the best.
