Quality packaging and sturdy components (mostly)
This is a heavy game, much more than you would think so when you consider its size. Pieces are all high quality and they fit together very nicely so that you can pick up a ship by any part, but it also slides out without problem. I buy boardgames on Amazon occasionally and this is the most pristine box I have recieved so far, would be perfect as a gift for a child or early teen, or a older boardgame geek. The game doesn't feel to complex to play. It's strategy is similar to Catan in lots of ways but has a bit more random variables to it, so while strategy is important there is still a lot of cards to pull and dice to roll.As you can see on picture 3-5 there were some very minor damages to the inside of the box and tiles, adter careful inspection some edges of maps are a bit worn, nothing that wouldn't naturally happen after a few games and a line of tiny holes that look like bites from something stapled that was put over the tile at some point. There is big square storm piece inside that just beggs to be broken. It seems pretty brittle and I don't think it will survive very long. Definitely feels like a piece that should have been made from rubber, or 4 smaller pieces that fit into one during play.On the positive side the component holder is made to fit the game perfectly and the end of the game manual has instructions on how to pack the game appropriately. So that is a big plus for me.

Perfect for family gaming!
I decided to order "Plunder" after seeing a commercial on Youtube. For those familiar with Settlers of Catan, the basic game concepts will feel very familiar. In my family (myself, my wife, our two grown sons) we play Catan regularly so I figured "Plunder" could be a nice alternative. The game did not disappoint. The rules (all of 5 pages or so with plentiful illustrated examples and explanations) can be read through in about 15 minutes and shared with other players in about as much time. Setting up the game is also quick; here too 15 minutes and you should be ready to go.As far as the game components, all production is of great quality. The map tiles and border are sturdy and when assembled provide an attractive playing surface. The various playing cards are also glossy stock with legible print and colorful graphics. The plastic ships, sails, cannons and people are free of flash or nub marks and feel solid to the touch. The game includes three six-sided dice and two spinners for placement of the storm and treasures (as a matter of personal preference, the spinners work fine, but I would have preferred dice instead as the spinners always seem to get in the way). There were no missing pieces, the game comes with a sorter tray that actually fits all the components, and when not in use the box is sized appropriately for easy bookshelf storage. As far as player age range of 10+, I think that might depend on the youngsters in question. If they can handle Monopoly or Catan on their own they will be just fine with "Plunder". Strategic concerns are present in the game, as players can not only choose between peaceful or aggressive game play but will be forced to adapt either strategy to changing game conditions and the various random challenges introduced by treasure cards and movement of the ever-present storm obstacle.I've been playing boardgames for more than forty years, from Monopoly to highly complex strategic games such as World in Flames and many titles in between. From that experience I found "Plunder" to have an elegant game design, on par with Settlers of Catan, by providing compelling depth in relation to simple yet not simplistic game structure. An all around great game with very deep replay capacity due to the changing map (modular map, similar to Catan), rapid game events requiring constant adaptation to circumstance, and simple game mechanics that allow for quick learning and play while still providing a dynamic play environment. Set sail, mates, and grab some gold!

Fun mix of strategy and adventure — perfect for game nights
I’ve played a lot of different strategy games with friends and family, and Plunder stands out as one of the more fun and accessible ones. It mixes enough strategy to stay competitive but keeps the rules simple enough that you don’t have to spend forever teaching it.The pirate theme is really well done — building ships, raiding for treasure, upgrading your fleet — it all feels true to the vibe without being too complicated. The game scales well for different group sizes too — we had just as much fun with three players as we did with six.The quality of the board and pieces is solid, and the artwork looks sharp. If you’re looking for a new game that’s easy to learn but still feels fresh after multiple plays, Plunder is a great choice.
