Not like the old style read the description carefully
Beautiful Incense burner. Came earlier than estimated. We did not read the description carefully. It is not like the old style where the stick is floating it lays on the bottom. We altered ours only because we are set in our old ways. But it is a great product, we will buy it again if our kids break this one too.

Expensive JUNK
This is a terrible purchase. Too small for usual incense sticks unless you put something to angle your sticks on it will not burn well.Beware of this expensive junk.

Easy to use.
No ashes all over the place.

No stick holder
Pretty lid design but there is no prop to keep the stick from just laying there. Doesn t burn well. I used a small rock to elevate the stick enough for good burning

Beautiful box with design flaw
In term of material quality and look, this a beautiful incense holder. The downside as many have mentioned in the comments is there is no place to hold and secure the incense horizontally. If you decide to put the incense on the the black fireproof material you will smell the burned fabric.I planned to return this, but since I liked the ceramic material (and wooden incense boxes are not that great looking) decided to hack a solution. I used a good double sided tape and another gold color copper incense holder to create a horizontal setting. It works. In the photo a Shoyeido small incense is burning. The ceramic ring is also from Shoyeido sample box in case I want to burn slzll pieces of their coil incense.

Dissapointed - Too short for Long Stick Incense and the Stick just lays in it.
Aesthetically I really like this Incense burner, but that is the only thing I like about it.The reasons I would NOT recommend this for Purchase are:- This holder is not long enough to accommodate a standard piece of stick incense without cutting / breaking it.- There aren't any holes to hold the stick free standing inside the box.- Instead, they give you a flimsy foil backed piece with approx. 1/8" bristles on it so that the incense is not resting on the bottom which is doesn't work that good and IMO I don't trust that it's not flammable. So to me about the only way this thing is usable like a regular incense holder is if you put a small piece of clay, etc. in it to stick your incense into and even then you have to cut your standard stick incense down so it will fit in the box. Definitely not worth the $20 purchase price.

Use the little felt strip!
I was skeptical of the fabric in the burny box but after trying to balance the stick either in the grooves or between the top and bottom parts I decided there must be a better way. Luckily I kept the strip because of the little foil part at the bottom looking useful but that is the UNDERSIDE. I have probably burned a dozen sticks on the felt and I can do 3 before I have to dump the ash(if not it will stop your stick from burning)
