Christopher Lloyd is a master gardener. I really like the way he explains the reasons and science behind his recommendations. Very rare to get this in a garden book. Understanding the principles behind good gardening practices becomes more important as you learn about gardening. Why prune in a certain way, soil considerations, why plants need nitrogen, compost and mulch benefits. Understanding these basic principles and practices and the reasons behind it all take you to a new level of proficiency in the garden.

Incredible book! My favorite gardening book. Christopher Lloyd's writing style is so enjoyable you don't miss photos- there aren't any in the book.

Lovely book for gardeners! I enjoyed the way it was written and learnt many interesting snippets. I will delve back into this book for many years to come even though I live in the southern hemisphere where the plants are slightly different, and the seasons less extreme.

honestly, I got this book as the starter for gardeners and it’s so boring I couldn’t even get through it. It’s not descriptive at all, I think this is the kind of book that experts love because it makes straightforward things seem complicated.
