I love these. My boyfriend loves pepper
I love these. My boyfriend loves pepper, and he always commented on restaurant grinders and fresh pepper. Everywhere we went he would make a comment about how nice it would be at home. I'm a chef by trade and love to cook in my spare time. For a simple set these really do the trick, and he is also very happy. He uses it with every single meal, and I use it when I cook. The freshness makes a difference. The outside wipes clean, and the fact the product comes out the top leaves less clean up as opposed to the bottom grinders.I also got big bonus points by getting the Pink/red Salt like his fave steak house has. I use the stuff all the time at work and i'm so used to it I forgot that pink/red salt isn't the norm for most house holds. I'm a little jaded when it comes to "fancier" things. But even with me being Jaded I really like these, especially for such a reasonable price.

Love these! UPDATED
Even though I read a ton of the reviews I was still a little shocked at how large these were. Seeing it in person is different than in the photos. I like the size though. I won't have to refill them as often. Ha ha.They are very nice quality, and grind well. The grind adjustment is super simple. Refilling is super simple. I think they look great. I love the simplicity of the design. I am very happy with my purchase. Fresh ground black pepper smells and tastes so good!UPDATE (August 2017): So with a heavy heart I must knock off a star. A while back (I procrastinated this update, sorry) I wanted to adjust the salt grind for popcorn. I wanted to make it super fine to stick to the buttery popped goodness.I COULD NOT get the adjuster to twist. So I called over my boyfriend and asked him to try and try he did. And it broke in his hands. The metal screw broke in half. It was rusted really bad. Salt and metal don't like each other. Especially in humid weather (Floridian here). The pepper mill is still up and grinding and is perfection. Sadly the salt one had to be laid to rest.

Salt. So much salt...
I've got an issue. I like salt. It started with one kind, then two, then I built a shelf with a dozen grinders laid out in a row. It's an odd problem, I know. These grinders are my favorite. There are several selling like these, which are all basically the same, but I always come back to this one though. They work well for salt, for pepper, for ground ghost peppers, for herbs. The grind wheel itself is a nice ceramic, and takes all the abuse with no issues seen thus far.Overall, very pleased with these grinders.

The screw breaks off when refilling the salt
I have bought this twice, the first time one of the shakers broke when I refilled the salt. It was the screw that broke at the base of the black knob when I tried to unwind it and so the top could no longer grind. I thought it was a fluke and since the price was right I bought another set thinking I would have a spare. Well the exact same thing happened in the exact same place to the new shaker when I tried to replace the salt. Since I had a spare shaker, I still have a working set until it needs to be refilled again. These might as well be disposable, since they do not work after trying to refill.

For my purposes, cooking in the kitchen, these ...
For my purposes, cooking in the kitchen, these grinders are a POS. First, I MUST wipe or wash and thoroughly dry my hands before I attempt to fiddle with either of these POS grinders. Most of the time they grind adequately enough, but such a PIA to use. Maybe if I put some duct tape on them to keep 'em from slipping, when I try to grind, but I'm gonna take a stab at OXO salt grinder, and relagete these for the table when my POS in-laws pop in at the end of the month, just before the Eagle Flys. Thank God the kids aren't interested in milling salt or pepper.Maybe I could fill 'em up and give them to one of the immigrant families squatting in the McMansion, with the hole in its roof, at the end of my street. Yeah, maybe I can mail them addressed to illegal occupant. Maybe I should just be little less snobby, and go introduce myself, see if they want to borrow some Grey Poupon, and try to con them into taking POS pair.

It did seem like the grinders worked loose and the pepper and salt ...
I have now ordered this particular set of grinders 2 times. I was hoping the first broken one was a fluke. I use fresh ground pepper and salt both for cooking and at the table. The grinder used for salt went first. The threaded bolt or shaft that adjusts the coarseness of the grind gave out or broke loose from something plastic inside the grinder mechanism and dumped most of a container of salt into my rice. The grinder lasted maybe 6 months. I thought it was a fluke and ordered another set. The new grinder set arrived. Within 2 days the old pepper grinder broke the same way. At least the new order was a set of 2 so I didn't have to go without. I adjusted the grinders upon first filling them. I didn't adjust the coarseness after the first time. It did seem like the grinders worked loose and the pepper and salt became more coarse. Anyway, 3 stars. The containers look nice. The lids stay on well. They hold a good amount of salt or pepper. Before they broke they were great. With daily multiple uses I only got 6 months. That use included cooking 2 meals a day and 5 people using the grinders at the table. I have also tried 2 other similar grinders and neither made as far as these.

Beauty AND Function are hard to beat
I like everything about this purchase. I've had many mills before, they always either functioned perfect, but were impractical sitting on a table (like the restaurant wooden mill that's a foot long) OR they looked nice but turned your pepper or salt into dust because they weren't designed to function very well. Those also left more dust on the table because there is no cover for them. These are perfect. And I've found the perfect gift, for Christmas, weddings or whatever. Set of these mills, bag of peppercorns, bag of pink chunk salt...less than $50 total, and a very well thought out present.
