Hope I never need it!
No assembly, comes out of the box ready to hang on the window and climb down - only I hope I never need to. These are super-heavy, though, and probably wouldn't be useful for little kiddos to try and manage on their own.

Well, I did take the product out of the box, I read the instructions, and also found the ladder to be of very good quality. I'm thankful that I have not had to use it, but the peace of mind it gives me is great.
