An excellent portable, bright and reliable flashlight!
I have finally found a reliable flashlight! I bought three of these. What I wanted:1. Reliable Flashlight: Good for over a year in a drawer and good for several hours per battery pack.2. Portable for closeup work with high white light levels but capable of lighting up a large area outdoors. What I found:When I used the "pre-charged" Eneloop Brand of NickelMetalHydride AAA batteries in the Maglite MiniMag, I got about 3 hours of usable light. Light levels were very bright and illumination across the spot was adjustable for close-up work. Light levels outdoors were very good ... especially as compared to the old D-Cell Incandescent-bulb Flashlights. My analysis details:1. With the fresh supplied Duracell AAA's: I measured about 1.6W battery consumption at a per battery load voltage of about 1.45V. The battery pack would last for 1 hour or so and the power output dropped about 60% (implying a comparable loss in light output). For closeup work, such as inspections, an ideal light source should be "white" and provide a luminous power incident to the surface of 1000 LUX or more, the rated output of 87 Lumens should provide about 1000 LUX when the penlight is illuminating a 7inch diameter circle.2. With Charged Eneloop AAA's: I measured about 0.7W battery consumption at a per battery load voltage of about 1.3V. The pack life would be about 3 hours with a power output drop of about 30%. The reduced brightness and "whiteness" with the Rechargeables was still adequate.Bottom Line: When paired with the 'long-storage life' Eneloop batteries, I expect that the flashlight will be a reliable light source even when stored for months. (Based upon several years of experience with these batteries, I don't expect to have an battery leakage disasters as well). Since this light has a limited lifetime warranty, if you avoid the leakage-prone alkaline batteries, one should expect long service life. In addition, the Eneloop batteries can be recharged hundreds of times.

Lighting the way for the Surge
I have a Leatherman Surge multitool with all the trimmings. The sheath comes with two sleeves for accessories. I keep the extension bit holder in one (BTW, that piece is a super addition to the base tool because you can use it as a separate small driver as well as adapting normal hex bits to the tool) and wanted a small flashlight for the other. When looking for a flashlight, I wanted it to 1) fit the sleeve; 2) be bright enough to use like a regular flashlight and not just be a weak inspection light (ie. junction boxes); 3) water proof or resistant; 4) LED for longer battery life and bulb life; 5) rugged overall; 6) not insanely expensive; 7) trust the brand. As in many of my flashlight purchases, this pointed to the fine products of the Maglite company, which has the added cache of being made here in the U.S.A. I know they are not always the super highest of tech or performance, but they are always, IMO, a really great value and performance balance. This light is no exception, and in my use may actually be above what I expected.First, was this custom made for my Leatherman or what? I uploaded a photo of the light in the sheath of my Surge. Perfect fit. It has come in handy many times for my forays to my mom's home as well as my mom-in-law's home. Both single women who are still living on their own while being spry super seniors, but not able to repair a lot of stuff around the house. This light makes sure I don't have to use their locally sourced (that means "weak") flashlights when crawling under the sink, near the furnace, back of closets, etc. It is very bright, has that Maglite adjustable beam, and uses batteries that are commonly available and cheap (AAA). I've used both alkaline and Panasonic Eneloop NiMH (just did this for testing) with no issue. In fact, the two or three hours I have on this light have not been enough to even dim the original batteries, let alone run them out.So, especially if your application looks like mine, this is the one and the way to go.

Brighter than expected
Maglites last forever, but the LEDs are so much better than the incandescents. Tiny package that is indestructible with a very bright light.

I like the new lcd light. Very bright and compact. Don’t care for the twist on/off method. Would probably order again

I love maglite!
I got this for walking my dog at night. It's hard to see his poop when it's dark out. After buying cheapies from the hardware store, I decided to upgrade and I'm very glad I did. This is small, lightweight, but very powerful. I can even see a good distance in front of me, which is good, because I'm in the Blue Ridge mtns, and we have a lot of bears.

Bright and Strong Beam
I did not want to have to push the button 5 times to get what I wanted, a strong, steady light. Twist the lamp head and it's on!With Maglite you know you're buying Quality.LED means you always have light available that won't leave you fumbling in a drawer for a new lamp to replace a burned out bulb.On and Off, all I really need & want in a flashlight.

Good Quality
I really like Maglites. I've been buying them literally for probably about 30 years (when I need them, which is sporadic, because generally, I only need them if I'm doing a night-shift job, which I am right now). You can buy flashlights a lot cheaper and even brighter, but at least "to me", they seem like very good quality flashlights. Sometimes,I need 5 hands and thank God though, I only have 2, so to get to the point, I end up dropping them a lot and they seem to stand up to abuse & shock very well, so that's the main reason I buy them, but also there made out of aluminum, so they're really light and frankly, they're really cool looking too and who don't like that...BOOM !!!

Starkt ljus och smidig.
De billiga knubbiga LED ficklamporna har upp till 10 svaga led. Den här har en stark. Inte varumärkes fixerad men man får vad man betalar.
