Moon Morocco (Travel Guide)

The best guide book for Morocco, hands down.
I had the previous version of this book, and the revised edition is even better. I like the Moon Morocco guide a lot better than Lonely Planet or others because Mr. Peters isn’t just a writer who did a job by spending a lot of time In Morocco to write a travel guide. He has lived there for years, is married to a Moroccan woman, speaks the language, and loves the country. I spent 2 months in Morocco and invariably, where LP was wrong or inaccurate, this book was right. The answer to pretty much every question I asked about visiting Morocco as a tourist was here. And Peters provides plenty of “insider secrets” that most other travel guides books don’t, because the authors don’t live there. Want to know how to judge carpet quality, where to get the best price, or what a fair price should even be? How to say a few words in indigenous Amazigh? You won’t find a better travel guide.

One (former) Guidebook Author to Another: BRAVO! Superbly organized & written!
In my former life, I was an author and have written two guidebooks for major publishers. I know the hard work, dedication, sweat, tears, and unending favors of friends, family's, and country connections to make a guidebook come to life. Lucas Peters has taken his work from the first edition of this book to new heights with this newly organized and written second edition. I actually lived in Morocco for over 15 years and know the country, culture, and nearly every destination as well as a local. And, it's clear that Lucas does too! The photos are awesome, the insider information priceless, and the ease of reading and finding information about the highlights and hidden gems makes this probably the best guidebook on Morocco on the market. Well done!

Practical, detailed, readable guidance from a pro who knows his adopted country intimately
If my spouse and I weren't already preparing to tour Morocco for two weeks in a few months, this enticing guidebook would kick-start our planning. It's a deeply informed, wide-angle view of attractions, accommodations, culture, shopping, recreation and more. The author, a stylish and breezy writer who's not afraid to sling occasional humor, is an American expat with more than a decade in country. His extensive network of friends, scholars, hoteliers, guides and other travel providers assures broad perspectives and current info about major attractions and worthwhile alternatives for travelers of varied tastes -- adventurers, families, foodies, beachgoers, history buffs, spiritual pilgrims, artists and photographers (the writer and his Moroccan wife snapped most of the vivid images). This well-organized, 536-page resource has 11 sections -- divided mostly by seven geographic regions, and also with packing tips, a solid history overview, primers on Moroccan nature, government, economy, people, culture, customs and safety. The author gains credibility with honest reflections on how to be savvy, prudent and handle potential discomfort in medinas and on the street (harassment, beggars, shills, sexism, LGBTQ insensitivity).Overall, I highly recommend this top-notch reference by a delightful "travel companion." Get it *before* deciding how much time to spend in Morocco, really . (You may want to add days or another week -- trust me.)

Morocco from Every Angle
As if you had, in your hand, someone who had already walked through every souk, drank tea with every shop owner, toured each room of every riad, and come to know the name of everyone in the entire — shockingly diverse and vibrant — country. If you need to decide between Morocco and somewhere else, flip through for half an hour and you’ll know.If you have already decided on Morocco, you can set your compass and clock by this book. The author has the nose to find what’s off the beaten path, and the taste to list the best of the best in each region.

Pure inspiration!
While I had a single day in Tangiers back in 1993, I've never considered taking my family to Morocco - until now. That region has always felt high-stakes, but knowing Lucas as a friend and colleague over the years, has inspired me to make a dream come true. Having this hardcopy will be the best tool in my toolbox, and knowing that this author made the trek to that part of the world and then stayed to work and later raise a family, gives me great confidence that I can trust what it suggests the experience might bring. The author and the book are the real deal, and I've never been more excited to plan a trip!
