Perfect replica replacement switch for a vintage lamp
I restored this "dancing lady" lamp awhile ago, then the original switch broke. I searched for an exact match and found this, which is almost identical to the original - the appearance was important and it’s identical on the outside. A bit of a fiddle to install (due to the lamp’s design) but the switch itself was easy to wire up and works perfectly. We use it every day, the switch is smooth and seems to be flawless. Best of all, it matches the original.

Not a bad switch
On the whole it did do the job, it was well constructed and wiring up was easy and I could clamp the cable with the grub screw to my liking. My only reservation was the switch didn’t click as forcefully as I like. However I am being a little picky for such a small switch. Similarly, I like to tighten my screws well when I’m wiring mains voltage - however the screws are small and consequently the thread is small and won’t sustain a lot of torque.Having said that, I was able to fit the switch easily as it is small, wire it up (the cable hole is of a reasonable size) and the threads on the switch a good quality fit.

Push button with longer barrel
I needed a replacement push button with a longer barrel for the lights on a wooden headboard so the cover screw has enough thread to hold it firmly. Some of the shorter barrels are presumably designed to go through thinner sheet metal or plastic, whereas with wood they need to be longer. This one fitted OK.A bit expensive, but it does the job without any need to do any modification, so is well worth while.

CASTELCO - still doing the job after all these years 100%
Bought to replace what turned out to be a Castelco switch in a desk light my father assembled in the 1970s from an old machinery lamp and a home-made wooden base, so the failed switch was at least 50 years old and in regular use! New switch is almost identical (a slightly shorter threaded portion) and went straight in after I discarded the packing washers originally used. Thoroughly recommended piece of kit and (amazingly) still made in the UK. Long may they continue.

These tiny switches ARE available!!
Thrilled to be able to buy a replacement switch to fit my 1960s lamp. Local dealers in New Zealand told me they were no longer available. I bought a few extra for the other old lamps we have.

thickness that the switch would accept
Arrived quickly, dimension of the switch was well covered but no similar dimension for the securing top fixing. had to reduce the top fixing by 2mm to accommodate the thickness of the lamp base.
