Falling down the tunnel of nostalgia and memories..
For years and years, Spyri's picturization of the green meadows, tall fir trees, snow capped mountains and littered bright flowers remained a happy place for me. I read this book in 4th grade and rereading it made me break down on every page because of the sheer avalanche of memories and nostalgia that I brought with itself. I laughed with her laughter and cried as she was sent away from her Grandfather and her home. A must, MUST read for every child and adult because it's just special that way and missing out on such a story would be such a shameful loss.

Book :HeidiAuthor: Johanna spyriFavourite quote: Flowers are made to bloom in the sun and not to be shut up in an apron.Review: A simple story about a girl who lives in a mountain and drink milk and eat cheese everyday. Why does it become classic? Because behind its simplicity, it is a story about human’s relationship with nature. At the age of five, little orphan Heidi is sent to live with her grandfather in the Alps. Everyone in the village is afraid of him, but Heidi is fascinated by his long beard and bushy grey eyebrows. She loves her life in the mountains, playing in the sunshine and growing up amongst the goats and birds. But one day, Heidi is collected by her aunt and is made to live with a new family in town. This story is all about how she makes her way back to the alps to her grandpa and heidi’s undying love for him makes this a nostalgic read. The plot bears striking similarities to the secret garden.A suitable read for kids and adults alike. If you enjoy the countryside this book will do wonders for you.3.5/5

Vintage classic with pages turned yellow.
A classic , all time favourite .My stars are for the story HeidiFor the quality of the book I would give. 2star.But my complain is they sent a vintage classic which has turned yellow. Is it the reason why the book was sold at low price. Could have mentioned in the description section that it's yellow pages..

Beautiful..
Heidi is one of the most beautiful character I've read❤️This little girl so cheerful and enthusiastic of nature. The girl with so much kindness that with her presence she spreads kindness around her..Heidi lost both of her parents when she was little and her aunt Deiti takes care of her. But soon aunt Deiti needs to move for work so she decided to send Heidi to live with her grandfather in Swiss Alps.Heidi who excitedly adapts all the changes and gets very happy to live around nature. Heidi fills the place with happiness & completely falls in love with the nature around her.But soon her aunt takes her away from her grandfather to become companion to a rich girl in Frankfurt. Heidi who loves nature & her grandfather doesn't settle in this new environment and gets homesick. So she returns to her grandfather to live with him again. The book revolves around the character Heidi and the people she is attached with. The message of kindness is in this pages. Heidi being a little child has heart of innocence. And how kindness can go long way this little girl teaches us.I read Heidi and Pollyanna one by one and both the story explains the point of goodness, kindness, positivity & gratitude. How these qualities needs be spread around the world is what you'll understand in these both the books.

Add some happiness in your life.
Heidi’s infectious pleasantness carries easily over the Swiss Alps and into my life. It will speak to you of forgiveness. It will teach you to appreciate the richness of relationships and the expansive nature. It will teach you first and foremost that love is the foundation for the happiness of man.

A charming Swiss classic!
Johanna Spyri's 'Heidi' is a charming nineteenth century swiss classic about home, family, friendship and a timeless story of childhood. It is a novel about the events in the life of little orphan Heidi and her life in the elegant countryside of Switzerland. She was sent to live with her grandfather in the Alps and she became the light of grandfather's impassionate life. She loved her life in the mountain, playing in the sunshine and growing up amongst the goats and birds. One day, she was forced to live her countryside life by her Aunt Dete and to live in a mansion in Frankfurt. The story is her efforts to get back to her grandfather and mountains.'Heidi' is such a heart warming story with arrays of love, hope and happiness. The life in the mountains is so dreamy and the author splendidly explains the seasonal changes. Heidi's life on the mountain is so joyous and the tale vividly portrayed the best of happiness and peace. The story is short and simple and the simplicity makes it more lovely. Heidi makes us wish for such a dreamy life, waking up seeing the snow filled mountains and spending night by looking at the stars!! If the character development was more specific for some characters like Aunt Dete and Clara's Father, it'd be much better. The story mainly focused on Heidi, Uncle Alp and Clara. But apart from that, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this little classic and the portrayals of nature and life in the mountains is fascinating. Moreover, the story gives a clear image of nineteenth century swiss society and their lifestyle.

Beautiful and sensitive book
Johanna has written an amazingly sensitive and beautiful story. It touches the heart with the warmth of love from people around. The character of Heidi is both strong and fragile at the same time where she is shown to have a massively positive impact on the people around and at the same time she is a demure girl who anyone could have hurt. A nice, warm story that many people across ages will love to read.

Beautiful book
The books beautiful.. If you are a collector it would look charming on any shelf or table... My only concern is.. The price on the book I received had Mrp 450.. Written on it.. I don't understand why it's so so expensive.. I got it for Rs 557/-.. So a 100 bucks more didn't hurt me..But if you love beautiful books and would love to pass them.. Then just go and buy it.. Worth the extra 100 bucks..

Alpine wilderness, a character [so far into reading].
I have read 50 pages so far, and things are goin' good. The one thing I'd say about this book, is that it's a teeny-weeny bit small. It coulda done with bein' about twice as big.Deta is a hard-.ss and Heidi is joyful and contemporary, meanin' by that that she isn't unreal- she can stare like daggers, with a flinty look; well, by that I mean she can look Deta or Grandpa straight in the eye: Deta anyway. She likes goats, and there was unpasteurised milk them days, an' people was as tough as Jigger Johnson or Tom Fink; Heidi included. So there was goats milk, or goats' milk, straight from the tap. Heidi mighta' been an eyes (and ears, so as not to upset the meter of the sentence) of Johanna Spryi, and 'er (readin "William Tell Retold, by P.G. Wodehouse) wish to show a pictorial evocative diorama 'n' panorama; a panorama anyway of the Alpine wilderness; with fir trees howling from the wind- or t'other way 'round. So the sights and sounds are there. A prop pos the size though, the book could've been' a bit bigger, as it is only the size of a kitchen-box o' matches (in height) an' one-an'-a-half the time wide; as an aforesaid Swan kitchen match box. But Marion Edwardes seems to have been a great translator. In 1910.

Classic children’s book
Heidi is one of the earliest books I remember reading as a child & I was excited to share it with my son.The story hasn’t aged, and is as enjoyable as I remember. The fact that it’s now downloadable on kindle for free is a definite bonus.

The right edition
I never realized, at the time, as a child, that so many editions of Heidi existed ! However, when I wanted to have a copy of my own, again (the original copy had been given away), no-other Heidi, but the one I remembered, would do ! Thank goodness many Amazon sellers show pictures, give dates : thanks to this, after scrolling down many a Heidi page on Amazon, I eventually found one that had been published at the same time as my original copy, and another, that had been printed later, but still had the same dust-cover .. so I bought both !Happiness is a trip to the past, and what better past than a reminder of the dreams you had, as a child ?Today it's all on a screen, but, 'at my time', imagination was nourished by lingering on a page, on an illustration, time and time again, before putting the book away, for good : now, I remember a world that was, with warmth, even if it no longer is, thanks to a beautifully written book ... and a well supplied, and organised site !Thank you, Amazon.

A lovely edition
Another great classic to add to my list of books read this year. For those of you who have not read Heidi it is the story of a young girl who is sent to live with her grandfather who lives on a mountain. She and the old man form an unlikely but heart-warming connection before her auntie cruelly takes her away and sends her to live with another family to be a companion for a sickly young girl. Heidi’s desire to go home makes her ill and eventually she is reunited with her grandfather.Heidi is a gorgeous story and my lovely Puffin in Bloom edition is a beautiful edition to my library. If you love classics then you must read Heidi.Heidi by Johanna Spyri is available now.

Excellent
I just love this book. It was one of the first books I had as a child and loved the story. I have visited snow covered mountains and whilst there Heidi was always in my thoughts. That is why I purchased the book to read again. I would definitely recommend this book and the seller, as I received it very promptly.
