Nice!
Grows quickly and taste delicious! I got this for my father as a Christmas gift and he loved it! Very simple set up and little effort to maintain it.

You need to open it within a week, lots of mushrooms!!
Ordered this to give to my cousin for xmas. Did not know it had to be in the fridge and used/opened within the week. So I put it outside my utility room in the stairwell (I live in PNW so not so cold out at Christmas, usually damp) for the week. Raccoons got to the box and did some damage to it, including destroying a corner of the instructions that were tucked into the corner of the package. I taped up the box, and gave to my cousin with instructions to open and use ASAP and apologies about the damage. She did not have to do anything! Mushrooms were already sprouting on the log and they got at least two crops of them without even trying. Between the tiny font and the missing pieces of instructions she never figured out how to inoculate the log, no worries- it was fun, lots of shrooms and very easy. Just time your purchase so you don't end up like me LOL

Very pleased! (Novice)
Super pleased watching my shiitakes form. Even though I knew you were supposed to deal with this immediately, I still left in the box for a couple days. Then read the insert and moved it to the fridge for a few days before I finally started following the instructions. By the time I got it out of the box, it already had nice white coverage and some bitty nubbies popping up. I soaked it for a little over two hours (which was the most challenging part of this due to the engineering required). I had bought a plastic bin from a big blue and yellow box store (~$9) in preparation. We taped a brining bag to the inside of that (filled about half of the bin), then added water. Braced that with a 9x13” baking pan and a cutting board. Then needed to weight it somehow. Got a mini baking pan, put a towel on it, and then added a brick. Tried to mostly prop that on the surface (but it did turn a little sideways and get a bit wet). (Like I said, there was some engineering!) I was trying to figure out how to support the log so it wasn’t just on the bottom of the bin, and the bottom of a deck rail planter (flower pot) that I already had worked well. Our house ambient is around 65°/42% humidity. I kept the bin pretty humid (condensation formed on the underside of the lid). I tried to space the edges a bit so it could still breathe, but I’m not sure how effective that was. We have cats, and they would absolutely have tried to chew the plastic bag.By the next morning I think, I had a nice row of mushrooms popping up with some other stragglers. It’s been about a week since the fridge bath, and I think I will harvest tomorrow. Very pleased!Update: Harvested a total of 1 lb, 6-7oz (and left some smaller ones unharvested). Sadly as a novice, I’m not sure how best to promote more flushes while also taking care of the log.

Fun
I had an excellent crop of delicious shiitakes on my first flush. Far fewer on my second, and I have not yet tried my third. A just-for-fun endeavor on my part. It does involve daily attention but is rather fascinating to see how fast they grow. Recommended for any mushroom loving hobbyist.

Is this fungi dead or am I doing something wrong?
I ordered the King Oyster mushroom on January 8th and it was delivered January 16th. It was way too cold initially to start growing the mushrooms so I waited. Then a little over a week ago it warmed up so I took out the kit and followed the instructions to put it on a plate water it by misting it and the tent bag twice a day. I keep it in a dark room where it gets no sunlight, is this mistake? As of today, I have no growth not even mold. Is this fungi dead?Update: I want to take a moment to apologize for my first review. I am pleased today with my mushroom plant growth. It was my mistake because as I stated above I was keeping the plant in complete darkness and not allowing any sun. This was the reason for the lack of growth. It is now growing well and love this product. I will definitely order from this company again. Again please excuse and forgive me for jumping to a inaccurate conclusion. I will try to not do this again in the future but I am only human so I erred.

Surprised it still worked after it froze in the mail
My kit showed up frozen and had a split in the substrate bag. They offered to have me send it in to exchange it but I was curious if it would still fruit. It was very productive and the first flush was about a pound. The second flush pinned well and is about a week from harvesting.

Semi disappointing
We were able to get one harvest but that has been it. What we did get were big and beautiful with lovely taste. Just a bit disappointed that it has been several weeks and no new growth.

Very Impressed!
I received this on April 2nd and followed instructions to a tee. I harvested yesterday April 7th already. We had a mushroom covered log and they smell amazing. I am trying a 2nd flush on this and will update my review to see how it goes. This was fun to do at home and would keep ordering if I could get up to 4 flushes like some of the reviews, we will see. I took photos of both sides of the log. It also came broken in half but didn't effect any out put. It also said to wait 7 to 10 days to harvest but my mushrooms would have been no good by then so I went ahead and harvested early. Use your best judgement. The white stuff is good, you want that on your log. I read some reviews where ppl thought the log went bad. This would be a good value if you could get multiple flush but if it's just a one and done then it may just be an expensive for fun with the family. We also had a grow light so that may have helped speed things along.
