Escape from The Grand Hotel Multiplayer Brain Teasing Game

Fun escape game , even for 1 player
I love escape rooms and games. I have played many. And I really enjoy this one for a few reasons. This one can be played with multiple players, but more importantly can be played solo. Many escape games are made for 2 or more players only. This particular game is a mini version of this companies larger escape games. Meaning this one is much less complex, less time consuming, etc. There is basically 4 independent puzzles in each mini version. You solve those individually first, then using all 4 of your solutions you devise your final answer for the escape. If you get stuck on a particular puzzle there are hints offered as an option instead of having to just check for the correct answer. So you can use the hint and still come up with the solution yourself. The puzzles themselves are of moderate difficulty. Definitely not too hard, but enough to give your brain a good thinking. There is definitely no reaching or puzzles that make zero sense. If you have played in escape adventures before im sure you will know exactly what i mean by that. Some puzzles in some escapes tend to go off the beaten path by miles and just seem to make no sense, kind of as if the game maker ran out of ideas and started to just get plain silly. This game does not have any puzzles like that. They are all quality puzzles that I found enjoyable to play and all of them had a solid correct answer that is very solveable. The way the game is styled you can play against another player or team or you can play with another player or players as a single team trying to escape. If playing against each other, should both teams escape correctly, the win would then come down to the quickest escape. The entire game should keep you busy for about 2 hours roughly. Give or take depending on your skill level with these types of games/puzzles. It's something you could quickly and whip out if your bored one night as there is no complex set up required and no long drawn out directional booklet. Its pretty cut and dry. It is even something you could walk away from should you have to stop for any reason, and then commence later without compromising anything, should you be planning to play the game solo. Your not gonna wanna walk away if your competing obviously, especially since the win could come down to the time it took your team to solve everything and escape. Anyway, after purchasing this version I did go ahead and purchase a second mini escape from the same game maker, so I obviously enjoyed it. They make 3 different themed mini escape games. The price is right on point too. Some escape games tend to run at a cost that i sometimes feel is a bit high for what you are getting. This one is actually very fairly priced in my opinion. Now I am excited to try their full version escapes. So I'm gonna go check that out next.

Great escape room for solo players
This was a great escape room with some challenging puzzles for the money. The puzzles were themed nicely and were not overly complex to solve. Personally I sat down and solved one puzzle each night and by doing that, it allowed me to think about the game as I explored each one. If you've ever wanted to pull off a heist and pretend you're in one of the "casino heist" movies then this is the escape room game for you!

A good quality game - a worthy addition to escape room board games.
My 2nd Prof Puzzle game and I enjoyed this game. I've played all of the Exit, Escape the Room, Unlock!, and several others. I've just recently started working my way through Prof Puzzle series. The graphics are beautiful, the pieces are multi-dimensional, and the story is great. I did think the two “locking” puzzles toward the end could have been done with some sturdier cardboard – I really kept thinking I was going to tear the lock trying to unweave the string. I also thought there should have been some better breadcrumbs on the lobby keys/fax cipher puzzle – although I was able to solve it, it was somewhat frustrating to find the key and then find the correct code… I knew what needed to be done but the process itself was just frustrating and time consuming. On, and the first puzzle was silly - there was no need for the bottom two lines on the note... if basically gives away the answer. Nevertheless, overall, a high quality game.

A lot of fun for 2!
My husband and I played this over 2 nights. It was a lot of fun. One puzzle was exorbitantly difficult. Another was difficult because the rules weren't clear. But altogether, we managed to get through without using any hints! There was a great range of puzzles, and the story was great too. I don't think I'd recommend this for a party, but it made for a fun few nights for the 2 of us!

Great evening of fun!
This is a great escape room game we played while dressed as Clue characters for a party. I wanted something similar to the Clue board game (with rooms) but something interactive and novel - this was perfect! You move from one room to another through a grand hotel with gorgeous cards that open like doors to represent each room with puzzles and clues inside. The solution leads you to the next room. Only one room/ puzzle we got stuck in and the hint didn’t help, but it’s near the end so we could guess the next room to still advance to.The only improvement needed is that the final vignette sort of fizzles and there is no big reveal or muster to solve. But we loved the experience and plan to buy others.

Perfect mini-escape room adventures!
I'll admit, I'm kind of an escape room addict. I scan Amazon nightly to see what new at-home escape rooms are available. I've got them all: Escape Room in a Box, Escape Tales, Escape Room The Game (and Expansions), Exit the Game, Unlock, Deckscape, Esker... you get the idea. So when I saw these pop up from Professor Puzzle, I grabbed them. My family and friends love the Unlock and Exit series the best, but sometimes I just want to do one one on my own, and these smaller ones (like Deckscape) that say they can be played in a group (and they can) I think work best for solo play. These weren't too hard, but had just the right amount of puzzle fun for a quick and pleasant diversion. I liked this Casino one just slightly better than the Zombie one, but enjoyed them both very much. I see that there is a Mall one coming soon, and I look forward to ordering that one as well!

Fun in a box
During the 2020 pandemic my household binge on Escape Room games. The Mall, 3rd in series by Professor Puzzle does not disappoint. Like the other 2 (Dead Town and Chaos Casino) this is heavy logic deduction skills. It's similar to the other 2 in that you are trying to locate an exit on a map based on results from the 4 enveloped puzzles. You can only play it once, however if you use scratch paper you can repackage it up and pass it on to others to enjoy. The 80s theme is fun, lots of pop culture references, probably my favorite of the 3.

After playing this "once only game" we feel cheated because it was rubbish
We knew this was a one-play game, we had played a similar one (£10 from Sainsbury's) and enjoyed it but we saved this one for our New Years treat. We now feel very cheated because it was rubbish. Some clues are easy, some are absolutely rubbish and the end of the game was a complete disappointment.9 Rooms, yes but 2 of the rooms are just the story being told at the end of the game. I would say that there are only 4 half-decent puzzles to solve - A great deal of money for 4 puzzles. We managed to purchase this for £17.99 + £2.99 p&p but we have noticed that it is now £29.99 DO NOT pay that for it, you will be disappointed.

Small Group Fun
This is our second Professor puzzle escape room, and its perfect for a group of 3 or 4 people. You have a multiple sets of folded Cabin cards, one leads to the other so they have to be done in order. the starting pack isn't directly labelled but if you fold down the top of each pack you see one that states start here, all the other packs will state which room you should have progressed from. The games are very number heavy with added with rotation logic, clock face equations and to keep things fresh a great model build at the end.The game is very story driven often with a few pages of leaflet dialogue to read aloud, and we found extra fun in adding voices to dialogue. There is nothing that needs to be destroyed in this Puzzle game so can be shared with friends. My only criticism is that it went on for a bit to long, the smaller Professor Puzzle games are 45min which is works well. this was 90min and we felt tired by the end of it.Would Recommend

Great game! Will be playing again
Played this with a group of friends over the weekend and had a great time. We’d played a couple of games like this before, but I would guess that brand new players would enjoy this too. We did it in just under two hours. There’s are quite a lot of book pages that you can look through as the game starts, which we thought would be a bit intimidating, as it turned out the game starts pretty easy before ramping up into the harder puzzles. The art is really lovely, and the materials all felt high quality. The blacklight torch was fun to use, and some of the later puzzles are really clever. If you get stuck, there are some scratchable hints which help out but without giving too much away. Would recommend.

Dont waste your money
If I could award this less than one star I would. Dont waste your time or money on this. So disappointed. Played Escape from the Starlight Express by Professor Puzzle and it was excellent, one of the best escape games around. Was expecting a good game from the Grand Hotel but the puzzles were either too simple or made no sense at all. Good quality materials but the puzzles and storyline made no sense. We didnt even know we had finished!! No explanation for random answers. Dont let this appalling game put you off other escape room games!

Difficult but fun
We played it on Halloween. Boy did we laugh. It was very hard and we only sure on 3 out of the 4 sections so it came down to a 50/50 guess to get out. We got out. Great family fun but for the over 18’s unless you have really cleaver 12 year olds . A great buy looking forward to the next one
