A Quiet Workhorse for Crystal Clear Water
I've been using the Marineland Penguin Pro 375 filter for a few weeks now, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance. This filter has transformed my aquarium water quality, creating a pristine environment for my fish. Key features I love: * Exceptional Filtration: The filtration system effectively removes debris, impurities, and harmful toxins. My tank water has never been clearer! * Quiet Operation: The decoupled motor ensures whisper-quiet performance, allowing me to enjoy the peaceful ambiance of my aquarium without any disturbances. * Bio-Wheel Technology: This feature is a game-changer! It efficiently breaks down ammonia and nitrates, promoting a healthier aquarium ecosystem. * Easy Maintenance: The filter cartridges are simple to replace, making routine upkeep a breeze. I highly recommend the Marineland Penguin Pro 375 to any aquarium owner looking for a reliable, efficient, and quiet filter. It's a fantastic investment in the health and well-being of your aquatic companions. Note: The filter needs to be well leveled for the Bio-Wheels to work efficiently on both sides. Alternatively you can even out the water flow on both sides of the filter by slightly raising one of the rear filters allowing more water to pass through.

Nice upgrade, even from a Penguin 350 - AND FITS ACRYLIC TANKS!
Just received and installed this new model. It uses the same size filter cartridges, and media holders as the Penguin 350, so those got swapped over without an issue. However, it does have different sized bio wheels so the wheels from the 350 won't work. I thought it was just a spoke length difference, so I trim the tips back some on the 350 bio wheel spokes, but there's a slightly larger diameter to the 350 wheels, so they didn't get the clearance needed to spin. No biggie, it's an established tank. As far as upgrades, I'll start at the top. 1. One-piece hinged lid that closes with a light snap. Thank you, Marineland! 2. Filter media area located inside at the bottom of the center where the intake hooks in. There's a basket that can hold a myriad of choices in there, but a nice option will be the forthcoming micron filter from Marineland. 3. Flow rate adjustment. Yes, you can variably decrease/increase the gph cycled by a simple twist of a knob. The included instructions state that it can be cranked down to 37gph. 4. Pump is an easily accessible/separate but attached sub system, submerged, self-priming and quiet. Noticeable difference from the 350. 5. Adjustable length inlet siphon tube that has a top section that can be used (open) for surface/mid level skimming (depending upon your water level) or closed, and an inlet screen basket with good surface area that can be opened to place media inside of it as well. And for the record, it DOES FIT ACRYLIC TANKS, or at least mine anyway which is the SeaClear 50gal rectangular. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000634H50/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And it's a perfect fit in that opening, almost as if the pump was designed with that aquarium targeted.

The tubing is a little trouble stay home
Very powerful pump works like it should there's only one thing that I did like and that was the tube the suction tube Don't fasten on good it is a booger to get it just right and then you better not bump it.

Important HOB filter info
Do not buy, they work great when new, then when the impeller shaft wear s down in 2 years have to buy a whole new motor unit. I have moved on from Marineland. Think of getting a SEACHEM or FLUVAL. Seachems are good for big fish, if you are going to have fry get a Fluval. I always buy a bigger filter than designated. For a 55gallon I get one for a 70 gallon, most have adjustable flow rates. I suppose for the Seachem's you could get plastic screen door screening to put over the intake to keep fry from getting sucked in. I have 2 Fluvals and 2 Seachems. The part I like about the Seachems is the water comes in the bottom and goes up through the filter material, no way around it. Should buy a sheet of denser filter material and make a pad, the one filter pad that comes with the filter is really porous. but worth it great filter

Wow - really really quite, finally
I have used Marineland filters for years. I really like the bio wheel technology, but the filters are noisy. At first I thought it was just the water spilling back into the tank under the bio wheel. I tried everything to quiet it, and finally just had to live with a loud filter. That was the Marineland 350. I just bought the new Marineland 375 for my 55 gallon tank. This has the pump inside the tank vs outside the tank. Wow - what a difference one day makes! This new filter is really really quiet. I should have replaced my perfectly good, but noisy, filter with this new one long ago. I am just happy I finally did find this one. Buy it, and your ears will thank you!

Marineland filter are always a win! Super powerful and can be turned to a trickle if you need! The new 450 pro is a step up from the 400 even though the 400 is still an effective filter. The submerged water pump is a huge plus in the event of a power out, it comes right back on the moment power is back!
