Explode the Code/Book Three and One Half

These books...! They’re amazing. The pictures are sometimes wonky, but my kids love these books and can usually do the lessons without any help from me. They get handwriting, spelling, and phonics practice here. Whether used as a supplemental or core book, these books just make everyone’s life a little easier! This is the first book we open most days.

This level seems appropriate for 3rd grade. Great for word study and spelling. The pages are formatted so children can work independently and at their own speed.Perfect for homeschooling or as a good addition to distance learning.

My 7 year old first grader loves the Explode the Code series. I like that the activities repeat and she does too. Looking at the books, they aren't colorful and don't seem appealing to kids, but they are!I skip around the book when needed. I love that there is a book between 3 and 4. Just what we need!

This Explode the Code book is a perfect accompaniment to the Wilson Reading Program.

I have started the Explode the Code series with my four year old son, who already has a very good grasp on phonics. With the drills in these workbooks, phonics can easily be taught/reinforced at a slow but steady pace. I like that these books have very basic lessons, which makes it easy for even the younger learners to stay on task. I am planning on using this series with my younger children when they are ready to begin learning.

Every section in explode the code teaches a new rule and gives kids practice before they move on to the next. If you child needs extra practice you can get the 1/2 versions and that will give them the extra help. Once kids get the hang if it they do it pretty much on their own. The author did a great job. Would highly recommended this book for kids that are struggling with reading, specially because there's pictures that guide the kids and they are short enough to keep them going.

I have used this program with both of my children. It is a systematic way to learn phonics. The 1/2 books are great review if my daughter is having problems with some of the concepts in the other books. The one thing that would make this book better is if the pictures were in color. One minor complaint is that sometimes the pictures are hard to distinguish what they are but usually I can figure them out by looking at what sound they are concentrating on.

Excellent books to help your children learn sounds of letters, really helped my son, I would highly recommend this book
