Q: Is this made from corn? What is the source of the vitamin C?

According to orthomolecular experts like Dr. Andrew Saul, it really doesn't matter whether it is manufactured in China (and most all pure C powders are, because they have perfected this process). It also doesn't matter if it is derived from GMO corn, etc, because at the molecular level vitamin C molecule is the same C6H8O6, i.e., 6 carbon atoms, 8 hydrogen and 6 oxygen atoms. You see, NONE of those GMO traits, impurities, etc. can get through to the molecular level. A vitamin C molecule is the same, whether it is made in China, the UK or the US. Even if this molecule comes from GMOs, which I'm not a fan of, it is still molecularly OK. You cannot genetically modify carbon, hydrogen, or oxygen atoms.

Q: Is this L-ascorbic acid?

Do not naively believe what somebody says an employee from a brand marketeering company told them over the telephone. It is ONLY what is, or is not, in writing on the label that counts. Unless the label states it to be L-ascorbic acid, it should be presumed to be the much cheaper D- form. This is tantamount to the retail marketing of coffee, where unless the packaging specifically states 100% Arabica, you can be sure that you are instead getting 100% Robusta. The unspecified (Robusta bean) coffee NEVER sells at a premium; always cheaper than coffee that is labeled 100% Arabica. Similarly the unspecified ascorbic acid (D-type) is cheaper than the vitamin C that is labeled as L-ascorbic acid.

Q: Is this crystalline like table sugar or is it powder like powdered sugar?

I would call it a powder, but not as light as the powdered sugar you get on donuts.Like a very fine salt.

Q: are there any other ingredients @ all beside the ascorbic acid? If taking 1/4 tsp. = 1000mg, how many servings would it yeild?

In the review section someone sent in a photo of the back label. one serving is 1.25 grams. The container is 1000 grams. Divide 1000 by 1.25 and you get 800. Besides one teaspoon is 5000mg, one quarter teaspoon would be 1250mg (not 1000mg ) or 1.25g just like the label says. If you could measure out exactly 1/4 teaspoon to the grain you would get 800 servings. But for most people, the exact amount measured from day to day varies, so the 800 servings is an approximation.
