Everything Staedtler makes is a bit more expensive but never disappoints. After purchasing half a dozen compass at the local shops, I decided to get my kid a better one. This is his second year, and I am confident it will last a few years.

Good compass. It is a good size for my work. I did hurt it a little, so now it is not as accurate, but it is fine for now.

I hate leaving reviews. Know this and then assess what level of frustration I must have had with this product that would drive me to write this review. Do not under any circumstances buy this compass. It is primarily plastic which would not be a problem if the screw locking mechanism was not also plastic. In short the "locking mechanism" is aspirationally termed. The two arms are both jointed and struggle to hold straight even under the best of conditions. I am sincerely curious who the target market for this bendy toy mislabeled as a drafting tool would be. I do not believe I could be capable of being any more frustrated with this waste of plastic. I would have been more satisfied if the just took my money and punched me in the face; at minimum I would have a story of the day I was mugged by a drafting tool company. Unfortunately it was just deception coupled with a world where no one cares about a quality, well-made, dependable product any more.

The first one I received was broken, I received the replacement a few days later. I have been using it for several months now and it works great and is still in great condition.

The compass works well. It is easy to use, sturdy, and stays where you set it. We have tried other ones and this one is by far the best one.

Older versions of this compass from the same manufacturer are of higher quality, this compass works as intended but feels cheap and will most likely break of dropped. The arms open under very gentle pressure so they frequently move on their own while being used.
