it rocks, great bargain
The media could not be loaded. I got the talman tmb100 in tfb in the mail yesterday... It was set up nice and intonation was perfect.. I raised the action by taking out the truss just an 1/8 of a turn and wow this thing rocks... the pickups are a little weak. mainly the jazz pickup it has lower output than the P pickup but works well in the blend middle setting I did a sound test video... the body is a three piece mahogany and looks good with the grain all going the same way in the tfb.... and I love the tort pickguard!!! the neck is nice and chunky and comfortable not a thin weird neck like on some basses... the strings are a good quality taperwound I think they are elixir I don't know if there coated tho... Nice bass, my other bass a Ibanez btb 6 string. I own a 3/4 double bass also but I was looking to fill my void of I nice 4 string with a low price tag and I found it!!!

Great Bass! Thank You Ibanez!
This is really a great bass, especially for the price. The tone is amazing, the neck is fast, the pickups are great. Can you get a better bass guitar? Sure you can. Can you get a better bass at this price? No. I don't think you can. You can get a Squier Affinity for an extra $40-$50, but the quality on those is nowhere near what you get on this Talman. It's a joy to play and it sounds awesome. If you're looking for a bass in the <$300 range, you can't beat this instrument

Ibanez Talman TMB100 Bass Guitar
Did a lot of product searching when looking for this Ibanez Talman TMB bass guitar. Watched many videos & read lots of reviews along the way of instruments of many different brands. I honed in on this Ibanez model as it checked off all the looks, functions & features I was looking for. The bass is 34" scale ( full size ) with Jatoba fretboard ( Brazilian cherry wood ) , maple neck & poplar body. Finished in natural walnut flat which is walnut stained with a light satin finish. Even the neck on the bass is finish with the same satin finish getting away from that heavy gloss finish you find on most models of other instruments. String gauge is 45 to 100 and the instrument comes equipped with Ibanez own Dynamix brand split precision & jazz bass pickups. Controls are split with the first being volume & blend ( controls pickups) and active split treble and bass controls to cut & boost your sound were needed with center dent for flat response. Bass is well balance with no neck dive . I wanted to wait a couple of months before doing this review to give me time to give a good review & not a first impression. I have bonded greatly with this instrument and found its features work well for my sound & playing style. With any instrument you want to have a good setup done to it by either yourself or guitar Luther. Having the neck relief, string action, intonation and pickup height adjusted is a must for a great playing instrument. Instrument should be setup up in a way that makes it easy to play and inspire you to ply musical passages. Having done this to my Ibanez TMB100 bass I can play with enjoyment for hours. Budget wise this bass come lower than most medium priced import basses found and is a very great value for the money. And this bass is far superior than those 90 to 100 dollars models found on the cheaper side things . Focus on quality and durability than on something that's going to bring problems & heartache in its future. Cheaper models at the 100 dollar mark may look nice but full of gremlins hidden inside. Stay gremlins free buy this Ibanez instead !One more thing I forgot to cover is the battery compartment on the back of the bass. This is a 9 volt battery that powers the active tone circuitry on the bass. The battery has held up well and I've yet to have to change it. Though note the input jack is also a on/off switch for the active tone controls. Plugging your guitar cable in turns it on. Unplugging it turns it off. So after every use with the bass kindly unplug your guitar cable which will conserves battery life. Leaving the cable in will drain the battery of power when not in use.

Great Value, Sounds Like a Bass
Arrived a couple of days early, and unharmed. This is my first Ibanez since my very first electric guitar in the early 80's. It was a piece of garbage. This one...I am surprised at the build quality of this $199 bass. Smaller hands may think the neck is too thick, and it is quite heavy. But it sounds great, looks great, and plays really nice. The action was a bit high right out of the box, but a slight adjustment was easy. I searched YT for the top budget basses before making a choice, and this was always at the top. I am not disappointed.

Good value
First bass, sounds good, easy to play. One of the tuner keys was loose, but works. Otherwise the quality looks pretty good. If you don’t own a bass and want to play around with one, can’t go wrong for $170.

Fun and versatile, great value, fragile tone knob, neck dive
I'm new to the bass and still so far have sort of a casual attitude about it compared to the guitar, so there's not much I can say comparing it to anything else or to the expectations of an experienced or serious bassist. But I do very much enjoy this thing. Sounds fine to me, feels fine, looks all right (the teal is not quite as vibrant in person as I imagined but I still like it).Just a couple of construction issues similar to ones I've seen in other reviews. The tone knob (which is two-in-one, an outer ring around an inner knob that each turn independently) has already begun to have the problem with the outer ring, it sort of comes detached and you can feel that it's loose and doesn't take effect, and I have to fiddle with it to get it to reengage with whatever internal part is is supposed to control, but it gives a feeling like doing so might be causing more damage. I'm worried it will soon fail entirely and I'll be stuck with a certain tone. Also, one of the screws holding on the cover for the 9V battery compartment in the back (for the active pickups) was stripped right out of the box. Fortunately the battery fits snugly so I just don't even use the cover.EDIT: Turns out guitars are not supposed to have neck dive. This one does. If I don't support it with my hands while having it hang on me with the strap, the neck dives towards the floor. It has become a problem, I am dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome and the extra muscling I need to perform with my left hand/arm to keep the thing in a playable position is probably part of the problem.

Adjust the action as soon as you get it.
Great bass, but the action is a bit low. Probably just a low-set nut that should be replaced. Untighten the bridge action adjusters, because the initial action provides an awful fret buzz on your 1st to 2nd fret. Great sound, nice pickups, and great for a beginner. Maybe not too great for a professional though.
