Smaller size, but very handy
I have a Spellbinder Platinum cutting machine and this plate works perfectly. It is only half as big as the standard platform, but l am finding that to be very handy. The magnets are very strong. It has a warning to say that the magnetic field it generates can interfere with a heart pacemaker, so be aware before you buy it.This platform is perfect for cutting a bunch of tiny dies in one pass without having to use tape to hold them all down. It is also great when you are cutting patterned papers and you want your die to line up with the pattern.A smaller platform is much easier to use. Fewer cranks to get it through the machine. Very few dies need the full-sized platform.Another benefit of the smaller size is that it is more affordable. The standard size magnetic platform costs around $70, so this is a great deal.I did purchase brand new acrylic plates and a self-healing mat to use with this platform. I make a sandwich using this platform, a sh mat, the paper and dies, and one acrylic plate. Then l use lightweight cardboard, aka cereal boxes, as shims, if needed.Very happy wirh my purchase. Planning to buy one for a fellow crafter as a gift.

Love it! Wish I bought it sooner!
The media could not be loaded. I was discouraged from buying this for the longest time because the first, “most helpful” review that comes up rated it a 3 and said it was basically not worth getting and the magnets make it jump all over the place. SO WRONG! I attached a video so people can see exactly how the magnets work. The green border is not magnetized. However, as long as part of the die is on the magnet (crossing over the border) it will stay put. You just cannot lay the entire die in the green section (which only affects small dies). Secondly, large dies generally will stay where you put them. I have a “happy birthday” sentiment die, and it does not move from anywhere I place it. On my 1” x 1” dies, they may move a little bit here and there, but for the majority of the plate, it does not (except if I lay the whole die in the green border). My smallest dies is 1/4” x 1/4” and as you can see from the video, that heart moves the most when I place it on the board....however by just a little and it is easy to adjust. The only way I could imagine this being an issue is if I tried to lay down maybe 20 of these small hearts to cut at the same time? I am not sure...I do not have that many tiny dies...As for warped plates, I could see how that would be a problem with the magnet. My plates do not seem to get that warped....I definitely do the test when I place my plate down in whether it gives when pushed in center, if yes, flip it. Mine have a slight curve and I have no problems. I am saving so much time and money not having to use washi tape to adhere my dies to the paper. I also have a Gemini Jr and it comes with a magnet shim to keep your dies in place but I like this so much better because that shim ultimately gets warped and marked up and I have replaced it several times over. Looking at it this way, the price of this platform in the long run is cheaper than my Gemini when you factor in the constant replacing. Last, this platform removes the need for the thinlet die shim that came with my machine. I no longer need it in my sandwich with this and that was always giving me a problem because I sometimes made the mistake of not having all the layers lined up straight before cranking. I highly recommend getting this...it is a no-brained for me!

This small magnetic board has resolved my frustration with ornate dies
I bought this Sizzix, Multi Color, Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Dies 656499 several weeks ago, and finally had the time to experiment with it yesterday. I have several very pretty ornate hearts, butterflies, and frame dies. But I couldn't get the entire die to cut out all of the die. So much wasted paper and time. Very frustrating!!!I have the Sizzix Big Shot Plus. I found that using the small magnetic board, Heavy Weight Scrapbooking paper, and the Blueberry plates, I am able to successfully get a full cut out of these lovely ornate dies. It takes extra time, but it is worth it.Here are the steps I do:~ I cut heavy weight scrapbooking paper to fit the magnetic board.~ I make sure that I am using 2 flat Blueberry plates that have matched curves, but are as flat as possible.~ In making the "sandwich", the magnetic board goes on the Big Shot Plus face up. Then place one Blueberry plate on top of the magnetic board.~ Place the heavy weight paper on top of the center of the paper. Then place the ornate die FACE DOWN on top of the paper.~ Place another Blueberry plate centered over the magnetic board and first Blueberry plate.~ I then run the "sandwich" vertically through the center of the Big Shot Plus, and wind it backwards too. I repeat this 2-3 times.~ Keeping all the "sandwich" together, I now turn the sandwich horizontally which fits perfectly from edge to edge in the 9 inch wide opening of the Big Shot Plus.~ I run the "sandwich" back and forth through the machine.~ I lift the top Blueberry plate off. I pick up the die with the heavy paper still attached to the die. I check the paper very carefully to see if there is still a place that needs to be cut.~ If there is an area that still needs to be cut, I use another set of flat Blueberry plates and repeat the process, making sure that the paper is not shifted out of the ornate die.~ Success and no wasted paper. Gorgeous ornate frames, hearts, and butterflies.I am very happy with this small magnetic board. The magnet is truly strong. It is so helpful in holding a die in place through the bottom plate of the sandwich.Kudos to Sizzix for making this magnet board.

Holds dies really well
This makes die cutting so easy. The dies stay in place on the paper and the cutting is the same as with the original platform. This is a game changer, especially when cutting multiple dies at the same time. I can't believe I went so long without it. It's a purchase well worth it's price if you want to stop taping dies or having them shift.
