The Revised Standard Version Catholic Bible Hardcover – December 26, 2007

I'm not catholic, but I enjoy reading various bible translations. To my eye, this is an excellent example of a Catholic bible. It is a good quality book 📖 and highly portable. The cover feels like brushed silk yet durable. The paper looks very nice, clean, certainly better than expected for the price, and the print is crisp. All 73 books, in the Catholic order, are included. This is a first Catholic Edition of the RSV. So Isaiah 7:14 reads, "young woman" with *virgin* in the footnotes. There are additional notes in the appendices (one for the OT and one for the NT) that are fitting for a faithful Catholic. There is an explanatory introduction and a few preface statements explaining the Catholic faith. If you're looking for an inexpensive, portable, beautiful, good quality, Catholic bible, I recommend this one.

Stunningly beautiful little bible. So glad i bought this for myself. Initially I intended for it to be a bible I could commute with because it’s so compact and lightweight. However I might make this my night bible as well. Reason being because it is so light weight and comfortable to hold in one hand which I can’t say about any of my other bibles that are regular book size. Also the quaint beauty of it inspires me so much that i don’t know if i will even mark up or highlight it. The only downside is the text is somewhat small but honestly it is still very readable and not that big of a problem. It’s a very good trade off for it’s compactness. Think i’m going to buy a second one as a backup in case i wear this one out or lose it. Would hate for it to be discontinued and not have one (that’s how much i love it). Would also be a perfect gift for any catholic or individual leaning towards God.Update 2 months later : be cautious that the gilted gold words are only printed on and after too much contact/rubbing they will fade. In my case i spilled something on the back bind and tried to rub off the smudge with a towel.. not a good idea as the words started to fade. Probably a good idea to avoid touching them much less rubbing them. I took the precaution of buying a fine tip gold pen and re-etched over the words to make sure they never fade. Might be a little much but just a avoud rubbing on words and it should be fine.

This beautiful little treasure arrived several days early! The publisher packaged it in its own protective cardboard box, which kept it safe during shipping. This is a very nice compact Bible for the price. It fits great into a purse, bag, backpack, etc. The gold-toned zippered case is great, and the gold-toned Miraculous Medal zipper-pull is the perfect touch. It's the perfect "Grab-and-Go" Bible!A priest recently recommended the RSV translation to me. This Bible contains the complete RSV Catholic Bible (Oxford Press), with a brief introduction, pages for family history entries, a 14-page appendix, and three pages of common Catholic prayers and devotions. The pages are edged with gold. The vinyl case is sewn and well-made, soft and matte with a faux leather grain that is comfortable in the hand, not rubbery, shiny, or sticky. The pages are thin, but not overly so, but be careful if you decide to highlight or underline. The print is small, but that's to be expected with a compact Bible.My only wish is that the publisher had also printed "Holy Bible" on the front of the case, because it only appears on the spine.I am very pleased and excited to have this highly portable and high quality compact Bible. It would make a thoughtful gift, too!

This Bible can be read with FrMike's Bible in a YearPodcast. It matches word-for-word (RARELY different, since Ascension's is RSV2CE)! It is almost as big as my hands so it is REALLY PORTABLE! Great for reading Scripture on the go.EDIT: After a little over a month, this has been the most used Bible I have now. Because of the portability, I almost substituted my other Bibles for this one. I also use this at bed before I sleep as I can easily tuck it away. Also, I used to bring a large print Bible daily, but this small Oxford Print RSVCE Bible replaces it when I just have too much in my backpack. I can easily pop it in my pocket as well. Every Christian should have a portable Bible such as this! Very convenient and accessible- will inspire you to listen to God every single day!I added ribbons and hand-written colored tabs (with color coding corresponding to the Bible in a Year reading plan)

I've been looking for a compact Bible, one that will easily fit in my purse or a large coat pocket. This fits the bill. Although the font is small, I knew that going in, by virtue of the fact that in a small book, that's to be expected. For the price, this is a well-made book. The cover is sturdy, and made of cloth.My order arrived on time, and without damage to the books or the box they came in. I'm grateful!

Ordered this thinking it’d be small enough to carry in one of my pockets. It definitely will not fit in regular sized pockets, but it does make a good travel size so you won’t have to take the family bible. Nice leather zip up case and seems durable. Know that the writing is small so you may need glassed to read it more clearly.

I had one of these, in red, that I had purchased at a religious supply store ten years ago, when the spine began to fray a little this year. It was still nice enough to use, but, one day, while searching on Amazon, I found the identical bible in black. I immediately ordered it. It is a wonderful compact bible, gilt edges, sturdy imitation leather, zippered with a miraculous medal on the end, just as pictured.I love love love this bible. I put loose prayer cards in it as well, plenty of room, and is just so beautiful. If you are looking for a lovely Catholic bible with sturdiness that you can zipper up, this is it. There are no maos or pictures, some may prefer that, but this bible is the best for me. Highly recommend it.
