Accounting for Non-accountants: The Fast and Easy Way to Learn The Basics

I had used a copy of this book from my public library for a project I had to do for my Principles of Accounting course in college and it helped me to do a good job on the project and pass the course. I'm absolutely terrible at accounting and this book made it seem not so bad. It includes diagrams and very informative information on how to do basic accounting. The author is an actual CPA who breaks down the rules of accounting into a step by step process that you can learn at your own level.

I think Dr. Label's book offered me a great refresher in basic accounting. I took accounting, over thirty years ago. Many changes have occurred since then, however, this books sums up basic accounting as I remember. I have also used this book to help me explain accounting concepts to clients. Often accountants expect others to understand exactly what we are saying, however, all clients do not have the same level of accounting knowledge.I think the layout works well. The concepts are explained, a QUICK Tip is provided, an Alert! is given, followed by a Quiz. This technique worked well, for me.

This book was my first read as a new business owner to start to learn about accounting. It was helpful for me, but I'm glad I also purchased the "Accounting for Dummies" book as well. After reading "Accounting for non-Accountants" I felt prepared for something a little meatier, and the "for Dummies" title was a good next step. So the two together was a good move for my needs. I recommend the book as a great place to start... but don't expect to be really ready coming out at the end unless you tackle something a little more in-depth as well. This book did what it said it would... it got me started.

This book is good for people who want to look into starting their own business. It taught me how to read a balance sheet, and income statement and cashflow statement. It went over the importance of cash management and keeping a certain amount of cash on hand. I wish it would have explain debits and credits a little better but other than that I feel it is worth a good read. Debits and Credits were the hardest things for me to understand, and I had to reread the definitions a lot. If you are starting a business and you don't know anything about accounting you will get screwed. Please read a book like this, I have read and heard so many horror stories about people not keeping good books. Accounting is not exciting but it tells the story of your business and you will need that if you want to keep your business going.peace.

From someone with 4 accounting classes from 10 years ago under their belt, this was a great buy. Not exactly a complete course in the depths of accounting, this book explains most things that are extremely important to accountants. It also help bring back some of the things that I had forgotten. Definitely a good refresher book.

Anyone who is looking for a book with understandable explaination and emphasis on vocabulary used in accounting this is a must buy. Label (the author) has a love for accounting that he wants to share with the average person. If you are a beginner and need some help with the basics this is a book you'll love.

I love this book!Topics to be pertinent, concise and very well developed. The introduction leading to the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and so forth are all in logical order - with one topic building on the previous. It's both an excellent cover-to-cover read as well as a great reference
