Turn It Up, Doris! (Puppet Pop Ups)

It's okay. I don't particularly think this book is written in a way that makes it as neat as it could be...though, that may not be such an issue with an older child. For instance, the language is inconsistent from page to page instead of being exactly, "Turn it up Doris" each time. And you jump through her day at a rather fast pace without the illustrations to show the child the transitions. Older kids probably get it, but my 15 month old is less than impressed. She does like to pet Doris, which it tells you to do, and kiss her. But I think they could have taken more pages and illustrated better how to interact with Doris (and come up with more things to do with/to her), and used more parallel language to tell the story. I'd buy it again. It's fine.

My 3yo goes around saying "turn up your volume" because this book is fun, easy to understand, and relatable. My kid especially likes to go back to the part where Boris broke his foot by falling into the hole to understand why he's in the hospital. The various depictions of "monsters" are cute and friendly and triggers discussions about how many ears/eyes/legs we have versus the nurse with four eyes and three legs, for example. Overall, very happy with this.

It's ok for kids, but not on the same level of Not So Scary Sid. This book doesn't incorporate the level of interaction that Sid does.

4-month old daughter seems to enjoy the puppet-hand through the page. My wife and I have found ourselves throughout the day saying "Turn it up, Doris!"

This was a hit with my preschool class and it added to our creative arts learning experience of making monster puppets

My grandsons loved this book. I highly recommend it!

This book is adorable. My grandchild loves that it interacts with the reader. Cute story!

My three year old LOVES Sam Lloyd's puppet books. Such a great gift - sure to please any pre-schooler.
