We can’t do regular vacuuming with big vacs and these little guys do a WAY BETTER job. Yes
We have a 2200 sq. Foot home....give or take a few hundred sq. feet. So we decided to get a second Roomba because we wanted one at both ends of the house AND we added a dog since our first Roomba purchase. We can’t do regular vacuuming with big vacs and these little guys do a WAY BETTER job. Yes, you read that right, the little guy does a better job! Th Roomba is a powerhouse in a mini package! Now for a tip to all who want their purchase to last. We ALWAYS empty the filter and container about 45mins to an hour into her work. It keeps her cleaning at her best. Finally when she is done working we take her out to the garage and use the air compressor and blow her out. We do this EVERY time without fail. She goes to her charger clean and ready for next time. Also, the most expensive unit is not always the best unit. Meaning our choices were made because we need the pet hair option. We feel the 650 and 614 models are the best ones for our home. There are many models with individual options and specialized cleaning functions. Be sure to look at all models of Roomba and decide what meets your house needs. Lastly, go with the or the iRobot brand name. You will not be disappointed.

I learned to love this thing!
After seeing the newer models that have come out of iRobot and other manufacturers I was uncertain how happy I would be the Rooba614. Being a bit of a cheapskate I tend to look at price more than I should, so I gave it a shot. I got this item from the Amazon Warehouse deals in “Like New” condition.“Amazon Warehouse” packaged this horribly, but this tough little bot showed no signs of damage or wear from being bounced around by UPS for 2 days. Regardless, my rating is not based on the shipping but on the product. For a $250 robot vacuum she cleans well. This may not be great for the OCD among us, like myself, but if you can keep the faith it will pick it up. Just don’t watch the vacuum work, you’ll keep trying to perform a “Jedi mind trick” to pick up the debris it keeps randomly passing by. ”The suction is equivalent of an old dust buster, but the brushes do most of the work.I have 3 cats, 1 Labrador, 2 girls and one son at home… meaning this thing has seen glitter, mud, and fur, rarely leaving anything behind. It does not snag the edges of rugs or cords, it finds its way to the home charger 95+% of the time without assistance. It is very good on rugs, carpet and hard floors. In my situation, the collection bin MUST be emptied every use and the instructions state the same. This model doesn’t have “scheduled” cleaning or WiFi, but for the savings, I’m more than happy to push the button and walk away! Now if iRobot could make one of these that could do the stairs….

If you value your time, this is not for you!!!!!
My suggestion is to never buy this product if you thought it might save you some time.Pros: It does a decent job vacuuming your carpets and floors.Cons:1. Cleans in a pattern that makes no logical sense and will annoy anyone that likes their carpet to have a uniform look when you get done vacuuming.2. Everytime you use this it must be emptied. The dirt catcher does is very small and must be emptied frequently. I expected this, but if you have animals expect it to pretty clogged.3.And probably the reason that I don't recommend this unit or really anyone like this. After emptying the dirt hopper you have to clean off the brushes. They give you a tool to do this which works well enough, but is tedious and time consuming. For a product that is suppose to save you some time.... well the reality is that by the time I get the robot ready for the next cleaning, I could have vacuumed the whole living room, and kitchen and had time left over to do something else. I am not exaggerating either. Not to mention with a regular vacuum, I rarely have to touch the dirt that is collected. This thing require that you touch the dirt side every time you use it. And if you think you can go a couple of times without cleaning the brush or the wheel out, you can't. Hair will get lodge into the swivel wheel so bad that it won't turn...Anyway, you have been warned. This is novelty and a time waster.

Cool little cleaner
I have a dog and 2 women living with me. The hair this thing gets is crazy. It's a challenge to keep it happy with hair getting in the rollers, all rollers get jammed with hair. Other than that my allergies have been easier on me, and the dust is a lot less in the house. I am on single level 2000sqft. I run it most days daily dump the bin and every other week find some reason to clean out the hair. The first month was the worst with hair, after a couple months it's not too bad. I have had it going for 8 months now and will keep this updated if there is a problem.

Love this machine
I've only had this for a few days but it is working perfectly and does a much better job than the 618 I had bought and returned. The Dirt Detector feature is great. I chose the 614 model because I did not want all the bells and whistles of the more expensive models. Love the Lithium battery. It transitions from my tiled floor to a dense carpet very well. So far I love it. Goes under my beds with east. Great for those with bad backs and knees. So far I am very happy with this model. The 614 I received did not have the words "Dirt Detect" on the top as shown in the picture. I contacted iRobot customer service who told me some have those words and will show a blue magnifying glass when it encounters a pile of dirt etc. Some do not have those words or blue magnifying glass, but when this design comes across a pile of something the clean button will flash and it will proceed to concentrate on that area exactly the same as the other design. Just telling people who may see the same with their units.

Works WAY better than my conventional vacuum (which is admittedly pretty old)
Why didn't I buy this earlier?Works WAY better than my conventional vacuum (which is admittedly pretty old). Apartment has never been cleaner, and I vacuum way more often since it is basically hands off. I just fire up ol' Roomba and then start picking things up off the ground and moving furniture out of the way.You can buy the fancy laser walls, but I don't really see the need. They may be handy if you have a huge area to do that is fairly open. For me though, I just toss a couple of pillows or whatnot down across a doorway, hall, or other area, and create a simple barrier to keep Roomba where I want it.Cleaning is easy enough, and the battery life is definitely quite good. I have a ~900 sf apartment, but the layout is quite constrictive and thus I can't trust Roomba to make it everywhere very efficiently without some guidance. I tend to split the job in 2 or 3. The battery has never run out. One time, for fun, I turned it loose with no barriers and most of the doors open and left for 40 minutes. I came home and it was still going, so I hit the "dock" button and left again. When I got home later, the Roomba had indeed found its way back. Basically it has to randomly drive near the docking station and then senses it and begins to drive in and dock itself. Usually I'll just pick it up when I think it's done enough, clean / empty it, then put it down in front of the dock station and tell it to dock. The extra features of programming for when you are away would be nice, but I find I have to (or at least prefer) to move stuff out of the way for the Rooomba to do the optimal job anyway, so it's not really required.Super happy with it 2 months in. Hope it lasts a long time
