There is a compromise here
We've recently gotten back into riding our mountain bikes and now that we have GoPros, we decided to mount them on our bikes. I got this 2-pack, hoping to mount one on the handlebar and perhaps one on the seat post for rear-view footage. One one hand, the radius of the clamp is a bit large to accommodate different locations on a bike's handle bars, as mountain bikes have varying diameters as you move towards the neck. Well, near the grips, I believe they are the same as motorcycle grips at 7/8", which the clamps are too big for. Towards the neck, the clamps appear too small. In between, there is a taper in the bar, so you couldn't exactly get a secure grasp on it anywhere. On the other hand, these are not meant to be used on the seat post, but I tried it anyway, and won't knock stars for it, but the seat post is too big for these clamps. So, where am I supposed to use these clamps to get any video footage?Unfortunately, the versatility of this clamp actually does this product an injustice. I understand versatility is a value added feature but if it doesn't really work, in this case, perhaps makes things worse, it's probably better to sell clamps in different sizes for each application.Several other reviewers stated that the rotation only locks in 8 45-degree positions. I have not counted but I believe this to be true. This isn't granular enough. Each bike is set up a little differently and on mine (Giant 26 Inch), I mounted it as close to the grip as possible, where there is no taper in the bar for more stability. This interfered with the gear shifter and I had to angle the post about 45 degrees forward, which angled the camera outward. Everything I wanted in the video was still in the video, but shifted to the left (mounted on the left side). The only way to bring it back was to rotate the head 1 click (45 degrees) to bring it back, but it was slightly to the right and tilted a few degrees.Over time, you could get use to it... but why? These are our memories and we'll all be watching these videos with our heads a bit tilted and looking around the video to see what's around the corner of the screen.I'll still keep them 1) until I find something better and 2) just to have in case there is an immediate need to a clamp. The screws are very long. In order to get them to bite onto your handle bar (on the small side where you most likely have the least amount of taper), the screws will hang out about 3/4", which would be dangerous if you have a fall.On the positive note, these do feel very solid. Some people say they vibrate and what not. So far, my videos are quite jaggy... but perhaps that's because I mostly ride unpaved roads with gravel, rocks, and mud. I'll have to put some road tires on and see what the videos look like on the road.So the compromise I was alluding to is versatility vs usability. It's only my opinion but usability should always come first.

Works great
The good news is it works quite well, and stays in place even on a brutally choppy, rough descent. It doesn't slip and it doesn't break like the plastic one I had before did.My mountain bike's handlebar is straight across near its center, so this limitation does not create a problem. A claim in the device's description is accurate but misleading: "mount is designed to be rotated 360 degrees to meet your different applications. It rotates similar to the hands on a clock, you can aim your GoPro at 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock..etc..,completing a full 360 degrees of turning."It'll rotate, yes, but only at 30-degree stops (1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, etc.). You can't aim the camera any more finely than that. If you want to change its aim by 1, 5, 10, or 20 degrees, you're out of luck.

Works well
Before my review, a short disclaimer. I use this product in conjunction with a longer aluminum arm. I do this because I'm using a 360 camera and don't want the bar or my hands in the shots. This places the camera at a greater distance from the base and could cause slipping on rough surfaces. Ok, with that out of the way, The product works well on smooth and gravel surfaces. I don't know about mountain biking though, the few times I used it in mildly rough terrain it moved a little. If you have a carbon bar, you don't want to over tighten something on there. I like the fact that you can turn the top part holding the camera while the base stays firmly attached to the bike. I bought two of them and I'm satisfied with how they work for my application which is riding hard packed rail trails and roads.

Worth the $$$
These mounts are seriously heavy duty, go on the bike in minutes and stay put even under the toughest riding conditions. Word of warning though, if you ride a lot of bumpy roads or trails and your camera doesn't have good IBIS built into it, these won't help with that. You'll need a gimbal if you want silky smooth video tearing down a mountain. That said, you could mount a gimbal to these mounts if your gimbal works with the typical camera mount thread so, they still serve a purpose for that.I will probably buy again for my wife's bike. I need to get more GoPros first. Product arrived as advertised, well packaged and quickly.

Great for catching the action.
I use these to put on a paintball marker barrel to capture the action. they work great and they put the camera at the right height. They have already been hit by a paintball, they are pretty sturdy.

Worthless
No matter how tight the thumbscrews for the GoPro mount portion they rotate, rendering the whole thing worthless. No UPS pickup option and I'm not driving into town to return a defective product. Cheaper to toss in the trash. Ouch.

Metal and not cheap plastic.
Used this item to mouth to my rear view mirror and used the rechargeable case attachment to use as a dash cam. Very sturdy and durable. Price was less than some cheap plastic items you get from the different action camera kits.
