Men's Belt,West Leathers Slide Ratchet Belt for Men with Genuine Leather 1 3/8,Trim to Fit

This belt is NOT leather. It is cheap vinyl. I didn't expect full grain leather but, I did expect a leather wrap considering the description stated that the belt was genuine leather. It's a shame that sellers are allowed to mislead customers without repercussions. I am disappointed that Amazon let's it happen all too much.

Belt arrived in a very nice slipcase package, and the individual pieces protected.Bad news first (let's get this out of the way):1) Assembly - was that attaching the buckle to the leather was not easy at all (you have to swivel a toothed piece of metal into the leather to secure it to the buckle. Tried as I might I could not get the teeth to sink in without the aid of pliers, which, sadly marred the buckle's metal surface at the lower matte grey end (see photo). For this I took away a star.2) Had to figure out how to release the buckle - mine came with no instructions. Once I did, however, it's quite easy. :)What I do like:1) It's easy to put on (just different, because the end goes under rather than over in the buckle) and you don't have to worry about "reaching the next hole" to get a secure (or overtight) fit.2) I love that it's full-grain leather rather than bonded (or other cheap piecemeal material), because this should last quite a while longer.

I wasn't certain this this would be a good purchase however I was happily surprised that all went well. I needed to trim the belt as was very long. No problem. Scissors did the trick. Fitting the belt into the buckle and clamping the spikes in is very easy. The belt looks good and the fit is custom as the click system allows for more precise size than a normal belt with holes. Lose weight, no problem. Unfortunately the finish started wearing off. I’m disappointed.

The belt fit is ideal. After cutting the belt down to my ideal size I connected it to the belt buckle which is pretty simple. The build quality looks great until I looked at the leather itself that was cut off. The leather is bonded probably with an adhesive. I wasn't expecting this to be 100% leather. I wouldn't recommend this for everyday use because it will begin to peel. However, for special occasions or for work this belt would compliment all clothes.

Decent belt. This is my second ratchet belt (1st was from another company), and this one seems a bit less hefty (good or bad, depending on your preference). There was some sort of strange dried glue-like substance on the buckle that was probably left over from manufacturing, but it did come off after some scrubbing. After cutting to my size, I did notice that the stitching came apart somewhat. Currently, it doesn’t show any sign of coming apart, but will keep an eye on it and update my review if it does. Overall, though, a good value for the price.

Ratcheting belts are a wonderful invention! Today, I talked to so many friends about them. In traditional belts, when you use one hole, the belt is too tight and when you use the next one, it is too loose. There is no middle. At least an inch distance. This one you can have smaller increments. I now have 5-6 ratcheting belts, and end up using this particular one a lot. With others the buckle is too cumbersome and heavy, but this one is quite light and the belt itself is soft. It was on sale when I got it, and I think it is becoming more popular now. It can make a good gift. I highly recommend it.

I ordered a black belt made by the same manufacturer, but from a different seller and with a different buckle. The buckle on this brown belt works, but just barely, and too much of the belt extends beyond the buckle when it is tightened only a couple of notches. The problem is clearly the buckle since the belts, themselves have the same configurations. Also, this buckle is not as secure as the one that came with the black one. That said, it is a good-looking belt and it does work.

I have a few belts and with one showing a lot of signs of wear, I knew it was time for a replacement. I liked the Ratchet style that I saw here and ordered one. I was afraid of having to "trim to fit", but that was easy and attaching the belt buckle was easy. They gave plenty of 'belt', I could have probably made a second belt with what I trimmed. This belt will now be replacing the worn out trooper, which heads to retirement.
