Hydropower Science Kit

We did these model experiments with our kids as we're building a full size version at our home this spring - the model even gave us some great ideas for our version!

I bought 2 Thames & Kosmos Science kits for a bright 8 year old nephew whose into Science; he was very excited to receive them. I never followed up to ask details about the quality and usage, but friends have said that Thames & Kosmos kits are the better ones of the choices out there.

I've selected this item for experiments. When I've got it, I revealed more options for exepriments that it was described on teh site. So, I was surprised! Very good and inetersting item. I'd recommend this item to pupils and teachers.

I purchased this product for my daughter's science project (she's 12). She was able to put it together quickly and thankfully so because the instructions have no words - only pictures. It lasted for a few practice runs then the light stopped lighting up. We took it completely apart and put it back to together with a slight adjustment to one of the washers and it was working great. The class and her teacher were impressed. It's worth the money if you are using it for a project.

Flimsy plastic water tray. I don’t see why this has such good ratings. Got for water power project but demonstration didn’t work well because wheel and water sloughs “meet “ it doesn’t meet right and water is wasted and flows under the wheel .

Great set! Easy to put together and so far everything has worked as intended

Too little for that price. I expected Lego quality for connectors and connected beans, it is not, sometimes I had to use knife to detach the peaces. My son can't do this on his own

This kit is wonderful! I have purchased a couple of hydropower science kits, and this one is my favourite. Pieces are sturdy, and the manual is easy to follow. My Grade 2 daughter loved putting this kit together for a Water Fair at her school here on Salt Spring Island. I especially like that the larger water wheel example teaches gear ratio principles.

Used this with groups in my class for a renewable energy week. The children are 6 and 7 so needed adult support to use it but end product was good. Led was broken before it got used which was annoying and the instruction booklet was deadly when it came to papercuts but apart from that it was a good purchase for the kids
