Get your engine light code scanned before buying, may not help.
This is a quality product and may fix your check engine light, but in my case i actually had a P0420 code which shows the same as a gas cap on the dash, check engine light with flashing cruise control. although my check engine light was actually caused by a clogged catalytic converter. Get your code checked for free at an auto parts store before buying.

2010 Subaru gas cap seal
So far it works great. My old seal/oring tore and gave me a fault. Fault is been gone for a few weeks now. So now it is just a longevity test.

Gas cap
New o-ring fits my gas cap. Let’s see if it solves the problem

Appears to work just fine.
After driving for maybe 100 miles after a fill-up, about 50% of the time my car's dashboard would light up with red, yellow, green lights and LCD symbols flashing. I suspected something about the filler cap as the lights had blinked once before when the cap wasn't screwed on tightly.I tried looking for visible nicks or dings in both the original rubber gasket and the metal lip onto which it seals - nothing. I also tried manually cleaning both - still got the dashboard light show. So I bought this replacement gasket.I took a small screwdriver to help pry off the old one and put on the new one. It took maybe 30 seconds in total. The new one is noticeably thicker than the original - which changes how far you have to turn the cap when tightening. Also, the cap is now much harder to unscrew. I guess I still need learn the correct balance between how far to tighten it vs. how hard it is to unscrew it.Thus far, completely satisfied.

Solved a tricky problem
As the gas cap stack gets compressed over the years, it will allow a tiny leak which triggers an error in the vapor seal system. This results in a “check engine” light plus blinking Brake and Cruise lights. Use this gasket and drive for a few days. Solved.

Affordable, but most importantly it solved all the check engine lights.
2012 Subaru Outback with the check engine light, brake light, and traction control light illuminated on the dash. Did a ton of research online and a common cause for all the intimidating warning lights is: the gas cap isn't sealing correctly. I was dubious, but for a couple bucks I thought I would try it. What do you know. It totally cleared all the warning lights and they have not come back after two months. To clarify, I cleared all the codes after replacing the gas cap gasket, but they should clear by themselves if you don't gave a scanner or code reader. Replacement is simple. I used a plastic trim removal tool and coated the rubber with a little silicone spray to help the old one slide off and the new one on to the gas cap.

Fixed My Problem
Loved that this simple little part solved the problem when the Check Engine light, among others, popped up one day. Didn’t even have a diagnostic tell me it was the issue as it is very common. Why replace the whole gas cap for considerably more?
