Our 2400 calorie bars are approved by the U.S. Coast Guard as well as the Canadian Transport Department and have a five year shelf life. The five year shelf life starts on the date stamped on the package which is based on time of packaging, please allow for up to a year of expired time due to time of storage, shipping, and placed order. The new addition to our family is the 1200 calorie food ration that is great for the one-day meal. All our food rations are baked under strict supervision and all have that great taste of apple cinnamon. (Nutrition Facts). Mayday food rations can be stored outside up to 149 degrees (?F) and can be eaten without preparation. Review: Decent taste, good for go-bags - Bought several different brands to sample. This one is actually edible. Taste is good, not too dry. Put in my go-bag for an emergency. Review: Good quality ration bar, but not air-tight, not vacuum sealed. - This was my first Mayday food bar. Was packaged in bubble-wrap during shipping, but when unwrapped I discovered an air-pocket inside the wrapper - not vacuum sealed. Discovered two tiny holes along the creases in the wrapper. But, with a Sept-23 manufacture date, I figured it wasn't to far gone yet, so I opened it up for a taste-test sample. Good texture with a mild apple-cinnamon flavor - not overly sweet, these could be very enjoyable with a cup of coffee! I've tried other brands of ration bars, and they're all basically just big wheat-flour sugar cookies with some added vitamins and flavors. I think Mayday has a good product here, they just need to work on keeping the wrapper air-tight! I'll order another one in a few weeks and hopefully get one that's sealed.
